I watched Reign of Fire and The Adventures of Tintin. Reign of Fire is a really good movie, IMO, but you really need to check your brain at the door and don't over analyze it. It has some of the best looking dragons of any movie I've ever seen. Tintin was really good too. It's like an animated Indiana Jones movie. The A/V was really great, but there were only a few spots where the LFE really went BOOM.
What about you? |

It looks glorious, and I thought the 7.1 soundstage was very immersive, it just didn't have quite the LFE Oomph that I was expecting. It does have have a few spots where it really hits deep and hard, but it's much more selective of those spots than a lot of movies I've seen. I guess you could say it's more tasteful with the LFE than say something like Terminator Salvation, which is pretty much an LFE onslaught from start to finish.

![]() I played LOTR EE part I, but because I was messing with sub all day. I spent most of the movie listening to the sub. I hate when I focus on gear, AQ, or PQ. I'm not that kind of guy, I am a movie guy. I want to enjoy the movie. |

[Show spoiler] Me too. Long night calibrated with avshd 709. A tiny doh moment occurred when i found out that the results were very close too default at Contrast/brightness at 0, color at +1 and sharpness at +2. The previous calibration placed me at -2/+1 Color +2 and sharpness +2. ![]() At the pluge pic 16 (reference black) need too disappear and it did but it took 17 with it. If i take brightness one notch up (+1) i gain it again but 15, 16 too. So i chose too lose a bit of shadow detail for a darker picture. The same was almost going on in the contrast pic. The bars look very ghosty but better that being able too see the reference (235) white bar blinking (at minus). The color was were hard as usual but i got it dailed in at +1. -1 too +3 are very similar. ![]() Last edited by spaceape; 06-09-2012 at 12:57 PM. |

Nice gypsy cat. ![]() That's what they recommend with the brightness, if you watch the video. ![]() ![]() EDIT: By the way, did you download the patterns manual? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8968806/Patterns-Manual.pdf Last edited by frogmort; 06-09-2012 at 01:10 PM. |
