Got a letter in the mail yesterday about a buyout of my pension plan from an old employer. It isnt much since I wasn't with them long. Idk if I should take it and get some work done on my house or place it into a Roth IRA. I'm going to call my tax guy on monday to see if I could meet with him to talk about how much taxes I'd have to pay on this buyout and what a Roth IRA could do for me over the next 35-37 years. I need some work done on the house though, dammit!

How people are friends when convenient to them. I've had people I've talked to and known for years not even ask me how I've been or how my mom has been in the last few months despite knowing what's going on. I feel stupid for ever wasting time with these people. You can hang out with me and I ask you about your life, well golly I'm sorry my situation impedes you telling me about your boring work afternoon.

It's very upsetting when you go through things with your friends and offer your love and support, but their friendship and loyalty has limits. I remember you mentioning you were taking your Mum to an appointment the other day. My thoughts and best wishes are with you both.

That sucks. People can be too self centered at times, not realizing that the mundane things they think are important, are not important at all. A persons loved ones are THE most important.
Sadly for me, I didn't learn that until a lot of mine were gone and I never got to say and do a lot things I should have.
I'm happy that you are there for your Mom. You're a great person and obviously your Mom did a great job raising you.
I wish you and her the very best.

While at deli section section yesterday, I saw these incredibly marbled steaks that I've never seen before. I read the display and saw that they are "Wagyu" beef and are known as the best steak in the world. The price on them is more then twice as much as the usual awesome AAA Alberta steaks I buy.
I am very intrigued and am thinking I should go get some of these and see if they are "the best steak in the world".
If/when I do, I'll post a pic in the steak thread.

Let me know when you buy and cook these steaks. I'm an expert on tasting steaks, so I will drive, or fly to taste and eat some juicy steaks. Yum.
