Well, they’re using the Amazon artwork for the front.
But what’s also interesting is that the spine is more in line with the Japanese spines.
I wonder if this means we’ll also get GKIDS rereleases of 1.11, 2.22 and 3.333.
1.11 and 2.22 will most likely be single-disc releases. I still hope we get a 2-disc release of 1.11 with 1.01 in 1080p on the Bonus Disc.
Also, hoping for a similar release of 3.333, but with the 4K Disc and Disc 1 having 3.333 and the Bonus Disc having 3.33 and hopefully the Giant Warrior short.

It’s in line price wise with other 4K LEs from GKids so I’m not too surprised. This one I won’t be hesitating to preorder. Ok maybe a little hesitation since I kinda wanna wait and see on the encode or any problems. But I have a mighty hunger.

I'm all in for the 4K once it hits BB and I can use points.

Edit: And ordered $1.79 after points.

I Just Preordered the Standard BD, The 4K Collector's edition looks nice but i don't really need all the extra stuff. I Hope that Gkids can get the rights to the other Rebuilds so they can reissue them to match the Gkids release of Shin Eva as the previous sets released by Funi won't match this release. Ik it won't bother a lot of people all that much, but it bothers me a little bit.

If the two Eva 4K versions really are recomposited, then there's a lot to gain from going with the UHD Blu-ray over the regular one.

To clarify, there's also a Japanese release of 3.3333 on UHD Blu-ray.

I'm in for the CE. Standard Blu-ray cover is super ugly.

The price is ass (and I truly hope it comes down on Amazon) but as someone who imported the Japanese 4K, I can tell you the picture quality is outstanding and worth watching over the Amazon stream.

It would have been nice if 3.333 4K came out the same day but I'm guessing the exclusivity with Funimation is preventing. Obviously we're all hoping for a 4K release of the first two movies as well, but considering that's not even announced for Japan yet, I'd imagine it'll be some time before we get it here.

Still any day where we get Evangelion home media news is a good one! I'm super psyched. I've been wanting to do a marathon viewing of all four movies in one day ever since the first one came out all those years ago. With this on 4K, I'm finally going to do it the weekend it comes out. It's going to be one emotional day!

I don't understand why Shout/GKIDS has to keep doing collector's editions and having them so expensive. BD should be $25, standard 4K for $30ish. Do a collector's 4K for people who want the extra stuff, but I'd personally be fine with just the discs in a normal case.

There will be a standard 4K UHD release… it just takes around a year after the Collector’s Edition has already been released before we’ll see it.

Took 14 months for Weathering With You, but if it didn't do well for the standard after waiting so long, they probably wouldn't bother for other titles. We'll see what happens with Belle. They'd probably sell more if they didn't force collector's version on people.

Is this limited, or just adding stuff to beef up the price?

I would assume as much, but the Weathering For You and Belle 4K Collector’s Editions are still available for purchase. I can only guess they printed entirely way too many copies of each.

Either way, I’ll probably hold out for Anime Limited’s version of Evangelion:3.0+1.11 because MediaOCD are more than likely working on that for them and if it’s announced during the holiday sale this winter, I should be able to get a killer deal on it with early bird pricing plus the anime unlimited coupon on top of that.

Yeah, I really love Gkids, but hiding the 4k behind pricey collector's editions is annoying for sure. Even as an Evangelion fan, I'm not chomping at the bit to spend $80 bucks on one film (of a 4 part series, that none of the other films are available in 4k). It further frustrates me because I really want to support more anime films coming to 4k, but this isn't the way.

You can find it for under $55 if you shop around. A standard SF 4K MSRP is $40 right now anyway, reaching prices of around $28-30 by release date. For the packaging and physical bonuses, the extra $20ish doesn't seem that bad. Though I can understand being annoyed if you don't want anything besides the discs.

I'll wait and see if they ever do a box-set with all 4 Rebuilt movies.

If they do, it probably be a year or two from now. 3.33 is still in print so Crunchyroll still has the physical rights to it.

I wouldn’t trust to hope.
