I haven't had Twinkies or Ding Dongs since I was a child. I bought some, and found that each of them is about half the size they used to be. I confirmed this online, after thinking that maybe my memory was playing tricks on me. Just a clever marketing tactic, so they can say they're giving you 12 instead of 6. Well played, scumbags.

You sound like my dad. Going they give you less. But you pay the same. Going they don't think you notice them going down by a ounce or two. But I take notice to that. He won't buy certain things he notices that does that.

Am I already turning into the cranky old man? I'm not even 32.

At least they seem to be giving you about the same amount; they're just cutting the individual items down by half so they can tell you that you're getting more when you're actually getting the exact same amount.

Other products aren't so lucky. The website Consumerist has a category dedicated to what they call the Shrink Ray. Long story short, companies shrink the amount of product they give you instead of increasing the price. The price stays the same and customers stay happy because they aren't paying more, even though they're getting less.

My dad says he would rather pay a bit more and still get the same instead of giving you less.
Going that he was gonna make a website that complained about these issues. and saying that if the people stopped buying the product. That would show them to not do this then.

People want to pay less for everything but complain when they pay less for something and it's not as good as it used to be. Can't have it both ways.

I don't eat chocolate bars that often, but I had a Mars yesterday and it's almost the same size as the last mini Mars I had around Halloween. I'm not sure if they do the King-size one anymore but that would be about three times the size.

Potato chips are the same, we have a brand called Monster Munch in the UK and they used to fill the bag, now the bags are three quarters fresh air! We're getting less quality and less produce for higher costs.

It's not always about wanting more for less, half the time a company makes a great product which you're happy to buy, but when they get successful, they dial down the quality and amount to make more profit. It's very popular in the UK, they start off giving you the good stuff then dial back the quality as they cut costs.

I read an old thread on reddit last night discussing whether Childs was the Thing, and someone mentioned the video game was a direct sequel either approved or confirmed by Carpenter, and in that sequel Child's is found dead. So no matter how elaborate or thorough an argument for him being the Thing, is just isn't so. Of course I didn't look this up to confirm, because honestly don't want to know. What's next, I read director notes of the original ending where Deckard is a Replicant. No thank you!

It used to be a struggle to get through a bag of Monster Munch when I was a boy, now they're no problem and I've got less appetite these days. We're lucky to get whole chips and not just bits.

I do wonder what they're doing as our food is labelled by weight, so I'm not sure if the older bags had bigger weights than the new ones or if something else is going on.

Our supermarkets tried to pull a fast one when we went from pints to litres, they switched our 4 pints of milk into 2 litre containers and charged the same. But I think (this was years ago) they were made to change back as we still buy 4 pints which is 2.27 litres.

I feel for you Man. I know that'd be a big loss.

That's so sad to hear. Try and remember all the love and attention he gave you and your family. Feel better, mate.

The Wife and I watched the "red wedding" episode of Game of Thrones today. I did not see that coming.

I'm really tempted to look up spoilers but I must resist. I really hope the Lannisters get whats coming to them.

Kind of late to the party but yeah,
[Show spoiler]it was all over the internets when it happened. It was a total shocker.

OT: I wish my canker sore would go away so I can eat normally again.

Yea, we're behind, we don't have HBO so we have to wait for the blus. I thought it would of happened at the wedding of
[Show spoiler]Joffrey and Margerie, if that wedding even happens and be the season finale
but I'm sure a lot of people thought the same thing and thus, why it was a shocker.

Our home is just south of the airport and with the wind coming from the south, south-east, the Water Bombers taking off are flying over our home a lot. They're fighting a fire to the east of us and we smell smoke constantly. They can get water from any of the 1000's of lakes around here, but for fuelling up, they gotta come back to town.

I haven't heard any this morning yet, so maybe because they've been at it for a few days, the threat is over.
