Also, the movie and EoE Video Format DVDs in Japan don't have the dot crawl nor interlacing issues that the Manga DVDs have. It looks like Manga just captured the Japanese LaserDiscs and converted them to DVD, but the Japanese DVDs are from a better source. |

In my opinion, the original pre-Renewal JP DVDs of D&R / EoE didn't look all that much better than the corresponding Manga Entertainment release. They're still overly washed-out and the black character outlines are riddled with rainbowing artifacts, after all.

There's a listing on the Madman (Crunchyroll AU, rip) business site for Eva 3+1 on blu-ray (also DVD) with a release date of Dec 6:
![]() https://b2b.madman.com.au/actions/ca...eleaseId=68392 No mention of 4k release or any collector's edition. There's a possibility they may just import the AtA collector's/4k release from the UK; they've done that with a few things before, like the NGE collector's edition, Jujutsu Kaisen, Weathering with You, etc. No cover art just yet. They're no longer Madman, but as far as I'm aware they're the only company that's had the lisence to all the rebuild films (in English anyway), so I'm wondering if we'll get a release that matches the first 3, that'd be pretty nice. The crunchyroll logo instead of the madman one will be annoying though I'm going to order the collector's edition from AtA anyway, but if our standard release has a matching sleeve as the first 3, I'll double dip for that. (I'll probably douple dip anyway tbh) |

For a few days, they did also list a 4K release as a JB Hi-Fi exclusive, it looked to match the UK AtA release. But it disappeared off, I expect it'll pop up on JB's website at some point. Hopefully.

After several weeks of thinking I've decided to just pre-order the Blu-Ray edition of 3.0+1.11, because at first I wanted that 4K set assuming it would have HDR or even have extras on a 3rd disc, well turns out the standard one will have the bonus disc too, so I honestly see no need for it since the 4K doesn't have HDR (although it does probably have slightly better colors and higher resolution obviously)
With that said though I also ordered 3.33 since it was like 16 dollars, but I happened to notice 2.22 is for sale from Amazon themselves, it claims it won't be here till Mid to late October, but I was under the impression that one was out of print by now? Sorry if this is too off topic, I just was wondering if anyone has any ideas about why it's being listed again, cause I honestly did take a chance and place a order, so hopefully it's not too good to be true. |

To those who own the Ultimate Edition:
What do you think of the book contents? How extensive are episode guides and marginalia? Do they cover most episodes or just a couple? What’s a rough breakdown of the book? I know that the book annotation's partially translated/expanded from the LaserDiscs. I’m not sure if that content is reprinted in any other English-language books (or online, similar to Utena Ultimate’s book)? A friend offered to sell & ship me her UE and the book would be the main draw. I’ve looked around the web and at unboxing videos but it was difficult to discern the value of the contents of the book. Thank you! ![]() |

Evangelion: 24 pages Full listing of the cast and production staff for each episode and film. Special Contents: 4 pages Lists all the bonus content included on the discs Laserdisc and Video: 20 pages Cover art gallery of every laserdisc and VHS release Explanation: 54 pages Reads more like episode annotations than an episode guide. Each episode gets about 1-2 pages of annotated shot/scene lists. Encyclopedia: 26 pages Lists info about the Angels and Evas as they are introduced in the series History: 10 pages An Evangelion timeline from start of the project to the final DVD release, including air dates, soundtrack CDs and video games, etc. I would say if you have no other reference material for the series, it is decent but not great. As a watch along companion, my go to's are the Essential Evangelion Chronicles (A and B). Here is a link to an unboxing page that includes several photos of the book sections. Check out the Explanation and Encyclopedia page photos and see if you like the content. https://normanicgrav.co.uk/2021/12/1...-ray-unboxing/ |

I think I might have to get these:
![]() https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJLG8H4B...1&linkCode=sl1 Haven't customized my PC much lately, and there's so much I want to do. $49.99 list price, but they were not in stock by the time I heard about them. I've been trying to track down the desk pad again, but to no avail. |

Alongside the full TV series, 26 episodes in their final form and the movie (Death + EoE) in its final form, you also get a lot of extras never released to the West before. Plus, depending on the edition you choose, you get a booklet or a book + physical goodies. If you're interested in the set/show, it should also be noted, that the standard edition only contains the official sub/dub (Netflix), while the other editions contain both, the official sub/dub (Netflix) and the "classic" sub/dub (ADV/Manga). Minus, the original ending theme song of the TV series was replaced due "licence issues" (cost factor), this affects all releases ouside of Japan. For edition and content comparison you can have a look here: |
