I like Thrawn, but they needed to do something different and unexpected from what the EU did. They moved away from it for a reason. They can borrow from it if they want, but doing something new that we aren't expecting is better. For all we know, all these rumors are false anyway, so it's hard to do say what they should and shouldn't have done considering we haven't even seen the final product yet. People are quick to judge a book by its cover, and even more so when it comes to rumors to something they hold dear. Some have even already made up their minds that the film will suck. But we should wait until we actually see it before we decide how we feel...

I absolutely adored the Thrawn trilogy, and would be amazed to see what they could come with on the big screen, but at the same time(as you said) it would be fun to see something totally new. Actually I hope they borrow, a little bit, from the series. Then, IMO, we'd be getting the best of both worlds.

And as for those that already made up their mind this entry, into the SW universe, will suck...welll I've already made up my mind that it will be quite good.

It looks like one of those ex-military-testing-facilities we have dotted around the country, so it would make a great Yavin-like location. They're usually full of planes and tanks left to rot. To see them full of rusty X-Wings would be neat!

Thanks to the prequels, Darth Vader has been semi-spoiled watching him now in the OT. All the other OT characters - Luke, Han, Leah - were not spoiled by the prequels. I can't imagine Abrams will spoil them in the sequels. On one hand, it could be interesting to see them in a new soap opera with conflict but on the other hand, I would maybe rather see them just in neutral cameo roles in order to preserve their beings in the OT. I certainly wouldnt wanr Luke killing Han just for the sake of "Luke turning into an evil bad-ass."
