![]() ![]() For me at least the best sharpness are around 0 and 10. Sharpness should not have those white artifacts around the edges and shouldn't be too dull either. So a good medium. ![]() Yes cool settings but makes me wonder if getting a pro calibration tool is really worth it. I downloaded the manual but i never read it. ![]() Last edited by spaceape; 06-09-2012 at 01:34 PM. |

Like I said, I messed around with the sharpness on my Epson, but I didn't like it, even on +1. I just think it looks more natural to me without any sharpness used. One thing I do adjust though, on a fairly regular basis, is my focus. Sometimes I'll spend almost five minutes turning it back and forth until I find the absolute perfect spot where it's as razor sharp as I can get it. I usually try to find a closeup of someones face, and focus in on the pores, eyelashes, and/or wrinkles. I really don't know if a pro calibration tool would really improve your picture much or not. I do know that from reading reviews about your projector, that it is supposedly pretty darned close right out of the box. With my pj, I have used a combination of the S&M, Disney WoW, and the AVSHD 709 disc, and I'm completely happy with the video quality, except I wish the black levels were a little better. I browsed through the patterns manual a bit, but I never really dove in and studied it like I should. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() About the sharpness. All projectors are slightly different so you properly did set it the right way: A good way too get the focus right is by using some sort of grid pattern. I muck with that quite a lot also. I sometimes get a little worried that it ain't a 100% in focus but it's very close. ![]() Yes with the greys the jvc is pretty much spot on. ![]() ![]() About the blacks.. If you're not in a totally black room some of the room is always gonna brighten up the screen some. So there's a limit for blacks i think even if you have a top of the line projector. ![]() ![]() As far as me being in a totally black room, I have all of the walls and ceiling covered in black cloth, including the back wall, I have a window plug completely blocking off the only window in the room. I also have a mostly black rug covering most of the floor. Plus I have blinds and curtains over all of the windows in the rest of the house, so I can make it absolutely pitch black even in the middle of a bright sunny afternoon. ![]() |
