I pre-ordered the Steelbook and didn't want to miss out on the packaging (and the info on the cut was only realised after they started arriving).

I would probably have picked up the (region free) US release for the commentary anyway but the cut just makes this a virtual certainty... and I'm not denying that the cut is small and the film is still great, just that the UK is receiving poor treatment by a major studio which I find extremely annoying

Fair points

I have yet to see it, so I'm looking forward to it

The only reason I kept this order was because it under £13 and it was the last Phase 1 steel I needed.

If it weren't for those 2 things Disney UK could have sucked my it too

I'm getting the US 3D release instead. That way I can actually own the complete version of this film, 2D+3D+DVD+DC+Digital Download of the “Inspired By” album+90min doc+Commentary+Assembling The Avengers+Music Video.

There's a good chance I will not touch another Marvel release in the UK. Even if it is a steelbook. Phase 2 can be all amaray from the US as long as Disney UK keep being complete ****s

It's not that though, its the fact Disney have been ****s about this release in the UK. It's just another kick in the balls

The film shouldn't be cut at all. And going by the BBCF site then this version of the film is illegal since it hasn't been rated by the BBFC. The UNCUT version has.

Also... Ang Lee's Hulk? Yes, I know. Blah, Blah. I don't care. Shut up.

Thank you.

On immediate inspection I see no boxcutter slashes across the spine and no dents. This could be the first undamaged Steelbook I've had from HMV in 13 months (the last being 'Fast 5' in August 2011).

Dare I open it.....

when i removed mine i put some of the torn off 4 bits of the old shrink wrap and put on the glue. Now it doesnt stick and i dont have to worry above removing the glue

Just seen the film and i was very impressing. Hopefully we get next chapter in 2013, iron man 3 maybe

Mine arrived today, after being posted on Tuesday.
One question though, do I have to rip the j card off completely to be able to open the box? Seems ridiculous to have to destroy it, I'd much rather that it had been an insert, or at least sized to that it could be inserted after reading/removing the shrink wrap.

After all the fuss about lack of certain extras, commentary and altered scenes, I should really have seen it coming that my steelbook would have an ugly scratch in the back
[Show spoiler]

After HMV claiming the best they can do for me is letting me send it back at my own expense and maybe sending a replacement out if they weren't sold out or giving me a £3 voucher, I managed to get them to send one out now express and I'll send one back tomorrow, which I'm happy with. Very frustrating release though, and the scratch was just the icing on the cake.

Just pull the front bottom down and you can open the case as normal. It's a good thing they use j cards otherwise we have writing and BBFC ratings all over the steel

Mine has a great big dirty box cutter slash across the spine. It's going back.

To save the expense, it's going back in their own box with 'return to sender' written on it.

Thanks. My first steel book so wasn't sure if I was missing something.
Now I've had chance to look properly, there's a small wiggly scratch on the front, middle vertically, but close to the spine. There's also what looks like a scratch perfectly horizontal on the spine itself, but that could just be how it was made. Nothing as bad as the photo posted a few posts up though, fortunately.

Awesome collection dude! I wish mine was as complete, but I'm missing out on the "Hulk" ones, and didn't want to double-dip.

As such, my own Marvel Steelbook collection looks like this. I'm plenty happy with it.

Mine arrived, mostly mint. Tiniest nick of a box cutter but not a full slash. Not worth sending it back. This glue however, bit of a nightmare to get off! I only got this for the steelbook as there'll be a double dip in the future im sure, but im happy with the steel.

Not worried about the J-card, I think in time the glue will just dry out on it. I used liquid soap handwash on the back of the steelbook, then gently buffed off with a very soft towel...job done.. I have just spotted a pin head size paint chip...but it is on the side of the case 2cm up on the opening part, so hardly noticeable...

My UK Marvel Phase One steelbook collection - finally complete!

Though I do still wish it had the title on - unless every phase had the individual titles followed by the Avengers films each having that film's line-up on the spine. Then I could see them looking like awesome bookends to each Phase.
