didn´t receive mine yet, hopfully during the next week.
from reviews so far it´s hard plastic, bottom of box with foam, very good quality and finishing. BUT it seems to be quiet tricky to get the disc out of the pages without finger prints on the disc.

Yep, but we already knew that. Universal usually miss more then they hit, as we all know.

I *think* going from what I've read on various forums, they've only actually restored Vertigo, The Birds and Rear Window. All the others are most likely the same DVD masters from 2004-5.

A real shame really but nothing we can do about it. Just maybe hope they actually bother to restore the titles that really need it in the future.

The DVD collection was back in 2004-5 if I remember correctly, so it's taken about 7 years to come to BD...

Life's too short to wait it out for anything better. Will be keeping my £69 pre-order, which at £5 a film is good, so happy with that. I wouldn't pay £100 though...

Yep. I also would like to know if it will include anything else. I'm hoping it'll be like the Monsters set which included an excellent booklet and artcards of the original movie posters.

Wait for mega reduction. The set sounds a mess and not much better than DVD apart from three movies. Will see if it comes down to £30 as its not worth much more as already own the DVD collection. Might go for digi book releases of Birds rear window and vertigo as they are a. The only decent transfers and b. getting individual releases. Never pay 100 notes for crap

well just like someone just posted, my worst fears basically confirmed--Universal just re-used the dvd masters for most of the films.
pathetic and shameful treatment of the greatest director ever.
and then you see that price for the US edition--a final, swift kick in the balls.
thanks Universal.
so pissed.

I'm keeping mine as I had Amazon vouchers which reduced the price to £27, I'm hoping Amazon will ship them as soon as they get them as this is more of a delay than a new release date that Universal are marketing towards.

I'm definitely waiting for a huge price drop. (Which Universal is known for)

Wow didn't expect for Family Plot to look so bad! Sadly, the delay did not improve any transfer.

That makes two of us! While I'm frankly relieved that Vertigo got a proper treatment, the careless transfers for Marnie etc. makes me not want this box at all. And this was what I was looking forward to most this year...

Would never ever happen, but I’d love to hear/read that everyone cancelled their pre-orders and this sold under 10 copies worldwide.

Universal then recalled and sorted out the rubbish they’ve sent out and issued a proper box set. Then in future only released quality transfers knowing consumers no longer accepted the sh**e they thought they’d get away with.

Like I say never going to happen.

Canceling my Amazon UK order as well. I'm not even a huge stickler for amazing transfers, but if the set doesn't deserve my money right now it doesn't deserve it...especially if a price drop could be in order later on. Disappointing. I was all set to throw my money at this one.

After much deliberation, I've decided to cancel my preorder. It never crossed my mind that all the films in this set will look spectacular but it also never crossed my mind that some of them will look that bad. I understand that the most problematic transfers are from the "second tier" films in the set but come on Universal, is Hitchcock! Even his "second tier" films are better than many other films. It makes me angry that lesser films from lesser directors are treated in a better way than films from a man that gave us an amazing legacy and created many of the greatest films of all time. I'm sorry Universal but I won't buy an expensive set that does not offer at least decent transfers for many of its films even if its my favorite director who made this films.

I will wait for a price drop and in the meantime I can buy a lot of Criterion BDs for that money and know that the quality of all the movies are going to be great.

No wonder the box sets are available once again at Amazon UK. No remasters for many titles? I ordered just before reading today's posts in this thread. Cancelled my order too. It was GBP 83 + 3 shipping to USA (no VAT). How much "value" was really "added" to this release?

I cancelled a month ago my pre order. Then, after reading here and there some good reviews about Saboteur, The Trouble With Harry and a few others, I thought "well, maybe it's not that bad after all. Marnie is weird due to the gauze but maybe Nick was simply too hard".

Now, I'm just half glad to have cancelled, half amazed at how Universal is able to screw up the major release of one of their best cash-cow.

Im gonna wait until it drops in price too (hopefully £40) and then pick it up thinking I get Rear Window, Vertigo, Shadow of A Doubt and the Birds for £10 each with some ok quality bonus feature films.
