The two I'd really like are:
The Alamo In Harm's Way. |

As I understand it, the extra roadshow footage is kaput, but the version that went on general release (the version I saw way back then) is in a poor state but savable, or it was when Robert Harris was going to do a restoration a few years ago...& the lovely people at MGM said no.

With The Alamo, I am assuming Kino Lorber will be attempting to see what they can do behind the scenes with their MGM deal.
I'm certain that Warner Archive will be looking at The Wings of Eagles. The HD clips on their youtube channel look awesome. |

Absolutely! But I only want it, if it’s released in its proper aspect ratio. The film completed principle photography in 1949, but wasn’t released into theaters until 1957. As such, the film was cropped to fit on the then popular 1:75-1 ratio screen. And that is how the DVD was released as well. I’m lucky enough to have the proper version on laserdisc. That and the roadshow version of The Alamo are my two most prized possessions on laserdisc

I want to watch a Wayne Blu tonight...just having trouble picking one out. I own about 25 of them. Thinking about going with Stagecoach...can’t go wrong with that.
Also, thanks to the OP for adding Pittsburgh, Reap The Wild Wind and The Spoilers to the beginning page and updating it. Just curious: when are these three coming out? Has a release date been announced? |

I’ve only seen it once before on Amazon streaming, but tonight I ordered The Angel and The Bad Man (1947) from eBay new. Looking forward to see this in HD and for only the second time. Plus I love Gail Russell. It’s maybe one of Wayne’s secondary titles, but I remember when I saw it the one time, really enjoying it.

Finally got my copy of 1947's, Angel and the Badman.
Watching it right now and it's terrific. Wayne is giving a great performance and the story is really good, too. I think for an Olive release the picture quality looks very nice. Obviously I wish there were some extras or commentaries or something, but, alas, I'm just glad it's on Blu. Also, I'm in love with Gail Russell ![]() |
