Two, the killing of the raptor with new-found acrobatic super powers was a bit much IMHO. If that had happened with any one of the characters I would have rolled my eyes.

Three, the last third is from a completely different movie and comes out of left-field.

However, with that said I hated Jurassic World that much more. What a complete waste of two hours.
Also, there is such a thing as genetics coming into play when it comes to skin tones. We never saw what her mother, grandparents and so on looked like.

It never occurred to me that anyone would see this as a problem.

Ha, I'd agree that everyone in Jurassic World sucks. I still had a lot of fun watching it, though, especially compared to 2 and 3.

That's true too. Skin tonality can vary wildly depending on the racial makeup of the parents. It was one of the many very explainable explanations that some couldn't seem to grasp.

I also thought the cell phone in the Spinosaurous in JP3 was a laugh riot.

The characters in Jurassic World... ... I disliked all of them and wished they had all been dino snacks.

Pretty sure that guy isn't asking you all to explain the possible ways that Malcolm could have a black daughter. I think he understands reality.

He said it felt weird.

Zoom UK replied to my query regarding the 4 films on UHD - "Hi Riddhi..., apologies for the delay getting back to you. We know that 1-3 have been scanned from the original negative and Jurassic World has been upscaled. Do you need any further information?"

I guess that's enough information.

If he understood... then why is it "weird" for Malcolm to have a black daughter? It just wasn't explained and didn't really need to be. What's weird is that she took on a raptor much more stout than she with absolutely killer moves... only when it was convenient to the plot.

I couldn't care less whether Malcolm's daughter was black, brown or green with blue spots. Alls I know is, when she unleashes her Gymnastic Powers I tune out. Maybe that's where people went wrong in these movies? If they were all trained to use a pommel horse and the uneven bars then they could kick the ASS of these dino's all over town!

It does make me chuckle to think that there are people who are watching a movie and see a child who doesn't look exactly like one of the parents and they're like "wait a minute this is going to need some explaining." I'm sure those people were also stunned when they saw that Beverly's dad didn't have red hair in IT. Like, yes I accept that this CGI clown has magical powers but what the hell is up with that hair??? Or yeah, dinos are back big time but that little girl's skin color is not okay. Was that in the script???

Seriously though, this is the kind of discussion that keeps bringing me back to bluray.com.

For me, Jurassic World was the first movie that felt like a Jurassic Park film since the original. I absolutely loved it.

Why? Because she is very black in appearance. It's still very possible, sure, but if for immediate plausibility (and less absurdity) I would've guessed they would have chosen someone with a more mixed complexion. I'm not the only one because you can find link after link after link online of people discussing the very same thing. I mean, it possible that it's not a biological daughter, but that's not how it came across or is portrayed in the movie. If the movie had more thorough exposition that could easily clarify that issue. We are more guided to assume that she's a biological child, 1 of 3 children, from an former relationship he had.

I'm full-fledged Chink (sorry if that offends other Chinese blu-ray.com members!), but my wife is a European-Caucasian mutt. Our daughters are unabashedly and undeniably "Asian" looking, however they also look undeniably mixed with something else.

And yes, but you're right, the cellphone in Dino belly is pretty ridonkulous, too.

Same. Whatever issues I had with the movie were easily forgotten as it very much gave me that JP feel and I completely bought in from start to finish.

I still really, really, really dislike the Dr. Malcolm's daughter kicking the raptor, regardless of her skin color. Still, it's not the main focus on why I dislike The Lost World so much... the level of absurdity goes well beyond that; that is probably more just the cherry on top of absurdity.

It's funny how there's a lot of "this ridiculous thing in [insert sequel person doesn't care for] totally makes it much more stupid and worse than the rest" on the last couple pages.

Let's face it, all three of the sequels are filled with absurdities and lapses in logic (if there is much to begin with). Even the revered original has plenty things in it that make less sense the more you think about them. And for me personally, that's fine. I learned not to overthink these long ago.

Sometimes it's okay for a movie to just be a fun ride that doesn't hold up to scrutiny. In fiction, the more nonsensical and illogical often makes for the more spectacular and enjoyable. Instead of questioning how the male rex killed the crew (reaching into places he logically shouldn't be able to) and getting himself locked in the cargo hold of the S.S. Venture, I revel in the awesomeness of the reveal as he bursts through those doors.

Absurdities are the stuff movies are made of.

I'll forever be a gweilo but my sister is dating a dude from Hong Kong. I trust that this will be enough to save me from the Pit of Capitalist Swine when the Chinese take over the world?

It's not just Malcolm's daughter which makes me dislike TLW so much, but it's as handy a focal point as any. Hell, I'd accept a talking raptor for reals before I could deal with Teenage Gymnast Powers being able to take out a raptor. Clever girl...

Yeah I think when you compare that scene to this one from JP1:
It really showcases the differences in tone between the two movies.
Grant, a grown man has to kick it hard in the head twice for it to fall down while in JP2 a teenage girl yells 'hey you' swings around the pole a bit and then kicks it out of the building with ease.

Now I love JP2 as a guilty pleasure, but JP1 is the real thing.

it's a terrible sequel and one of Spielberg's worst films. The example above is one of the prime examples of atrocious film making...

the other scene that drives me mad is where they're hanging over the cliff about to fall to their doom and they make a joke about ordering cheeseburgers and cokes to the guy there to save them.... one of the worst moments in film history as far as I'm concerned....

I don't get the irrational hate it was his nightmare... I still find it marginally cringe but come on you can't say that this tiny moment in the movie and maybe the Satellite phone... compared to these pearlers of horrendous from JW;
  • Turning raptors from scary entities, to attack dogs...
  • Bryce Dallas Howard's character is iredeemable
    - makes a mockery of all "strong female" notions it tries to invoke.
    - movie gifts her a 'save the day' moment...
    - suddenly IS considered great by the movie?!!?!?!
  • The Dinosaur is boring even though it's so advanced...
  • B.D Wong's characters competency as a scientist is not portrayed on screen.
  • Kids are boring.
    - Each being twice as bad to watch as Eric.
    - So that's 4x worse...
  • Super lame reminiscing scene with Howard/Pratt stops movie in its tracks
  • Super lame divorce plot stops movie in it's tracks
  • Unnecessary deaths...
    - for simpleton shock value?
    - show off CGI??
    - still has barely stakes/suspense to any of it
  • It's meta attempts work against the movie. Aren't clever!
  • "Indominous Rex" sounds stupid
  • It may have been released in 3D but the characters are operating in one dimension on screen.
  • Trevorrow's writing makes David Keopp elevate to the like of Aaron Sorkin.
