RitwikKN2002 I do in no way think most people like movies without subtitles because most people wanna make out what each character is saying. Because that was the whole issue with TENET they couldn’t understand what the characters was saying because it was missing subtitles in the theater. It was EVERYWHERE on social media. So i am pretty sure most want active english subtitles on so they can understand at all times what the characters are saying.

If english subtitles weren't on it would be a deal breaker for me. Everyone complained TENET did not have subtitles on in theaters because they could't hear or make out what characters was saying. Now we have a few people here complaining about the opposite WTF?

In many movies characters whisper too and you tell me you do not need subtitles there either ?

English subtitles should be a must for EVERY movie because of all this.

When you say 'most' I think you are thinking of non-English speakers or non native speakers. Which is fine, but this is an English speaking bluray forum so it's not weird that a lot of people here don't want to have to be forced to use the subtitles for the whole movie when they can understand the dialogue perfectly without. Tenet was an anomaly because the dialogue didn't seem to be mixed well. It's not like people in English language countries are begging for English subs on all cinema releases lol.

I have attention issues and I find subtitles very distracting for English language media. I find myself automatically reading the subtitles and therefore taking in less of the scene, and it also ruins the delivery of certain dramatic lines/jokes etc when you process it before it is said. I am quite a fast reader though

So after careful consideration I decided to cancel my pre order as I don’t or won’t have the ability to re mux the 4k soundtrack to the 3D for correct subtitles. I would of paid the ridiculous £60 if it wasn’t for this big problem.

The Panasonic UB820 can play external subs with the region freedom custom firmware. I tried to ask in the thread for that player if it does that on 3D discs but I don’t see why it wouldn’t. Perhaps if you can get someone that has it to confirm it, it would be worth getting that custom firmware if you are a big 3D fan. I’m thrilled my Oppo plays external subs, and if it didn’t, I would get the custom firmware for my UB820 because I love Marvel 3D and we might get (hopefully) quite a few more discs this way so it would be worth it.

Muxing isn't hard at all... happy to help when the 3D disc arrives. You can end up with an ISO you can burn to a BD50 BD-R if you want, or just save as a MKV MVC to play with a player like Zidoo X9S, Z9S or Z9X.

I can see that my one star review is up for the UK release on Amazon UK now, so I've done my job of flagging up that there is a 3D version released in Japan.

The subtitle issue is going to be annoying but if there's only one official 3D release, then that's the one I have to get. I have a tendency to rewind quality 3D moments anyway so skipping back to turn on subs isn't a huge problem. Though I appreciate that it is a domestic Japanese release, I do wish that Disney would provide a track just for the non-English dialogue, Warners seem to be able to do this with their international releases even when languages and subtitle languages vary between them.

Any thoughts on if this will drop again in price on Amazon Japan around Black Friday? Is that even "celebrated" over there? Black Widow was released in the middle of this year so I wasn't sure if there is any difference with this release and that one.

Unlikely. Black Widow has only dropped in price by a dollar or so since its release in September. I don't see Shang-Chi's price dropping any time soon, either.

These movienex releases are a godsend for us 3D Blu-Ray lovers. Really looking forward to getting to see this the way its intended to be seen same with ETERNALS as well. I really hope RSM release Venom 2 on 3D they only released one as of now so there has to be more than Jumanji 2. They got a lot of positive response for the Jumanji 2 release. Venom 2 on 3D for them would be an even bigger seller. That is definitely for sure.

And Ralph 2 has been out over 2 years and never really dropped much after release -- couple dollars maybe, but more than eaten up by the increased shipping charges.

Not sure if it a Disney, MovieNex, or AmazonJp - Japan Retail thing that movie prices tend not to drop precipitously after a while

Wikipedia page about MovieNEX says that when a movie has beaten a low bar of price it will stay like that, or if it ever goes on sale is removed and replaced by a renewed edition.

I use MPC-BC (or you can also use MPC-HC), and toggle milliseconds on. Then, hold down (on PC) the Shift key with left/right arrows to go frame by frame in each version & get the time difference to the millisecond.

Can you please take any talk of remuxing to PM. Site rules clearly state that discussion around ripping and other techniques are not permitted.

I'll have to try that. I've been using VLC media player. Pressing 'k' or 'j' you can shift the audio but only in 50ms blocks.

Calm down mate. An out of context comment talking about how to synchronise subtitles on a video playing software on PC is not discussion about ripping. Just writing the phrase ‘discussion around ripping’ is more of a discussion of ripping lol.

4 exciting ways to view this movie, take your pick.
I'll wait until someone posts an srt for just non-English subs and then watch it on my Oppo.
