Default A word on the package

I noted this in the III thread, this box the case comes in is very nice and sturdy. I didn’t expect this at all. I don’t have 1, 3,4,5 yet, but I think these boxes Scream has given us is a very nice touch indeed. Despite the eco cases coming in 4 and 5, from what I hear, this package certainly has a premium feel to it. I think fans should be quite pleased.

Default I started watching the UHD of this last night

and for the video department, I must say it looks very good. Wow. The opening titles do have that stronger orange glow along with the pumpkin. The HDR and wide color gamut really does bring this image to life, as much as it can be anyway. The picture, to my eyes, doesn't suffer from any DNR that I can see, giving all the details room to breathe. This is all at night, but the shadow detail is pretty damn good here, and that atmosphere that is created is only more richly realized with the addition of HDR.

I was skeptical because I already have the 10 disc set of the films, but I think, for part II, this is WELL WORTH the upgrade to UHD.

It is true!! I was able to get my copy of Halloween II via Best Buy store pickup. There were three copies available at my store. I checked to see if the other two copies were on the floor, they were not. I am assuming they must have pulled them at some point. I also checked other stores around the area and there was plenty of copies, so check around your area.

The reason that is because Best Buy mistakenly still lists H2 as a 9/28 release in their system and on the website so stores put them out already not realizing the street date was pushed to 10/5. They also did that with H1 but that got corrected on the website and stores were told to pull any copies off the shelf on Thursday afternoon. Why they didn't change that for H2 is anyone's guess so those wanting H2 should be able to pick up locally now as it doesn't appear that title is available for shipping (yet). You probably didn't see any other H2 copies on the shelf because they were either sold or pulled for other customers doing in-store pick-up.

I got H1 and H2 this past Thursday as I had placed my order for in-store pick up Wednesday evening. The hard slipcase is quite nice, very study, I'd take that over a slipcover any day. I believe stores got between 3-5 copies each according to one of the managers I spoke to. He said he had a lot of people asking for H1 and H2 since they were showing 9/28 as the release online before BB fixed it for H1, but not for H2.

What’s funny was that after placing my Halloween II order online for pickup I was expecting a possible response of saying either it was an error or they wouldn’t be able to sell it to me because earlier in the day i tried to order it and it kept popping up an error. I thought they had caught on, but later I tried one last time and sure enough it worked lol.

I went to my Best Buy yesterday because it said it had 3 copies of H2 4K available, upon arrival none were on the floor so I asked. An employee came back with H2 and H1 4K and I bought them both. He said they didn’t have any H4 4K which would’ve been the only other one I’d want. I own the h5 blu (hate the movie) and I have the H3 shout factory steelbook and didn’t wanna double dip on that but had no problem doing it for h1 and H2 for the 50th time lol.

Am I missing something? On the back case they list a NEW interview with the production manager. Don’t see that listed anywhere on the disc features for the blu ray.

Thanks for confirming this! Several people have asked if it was on the disc or not since it was originally announced but then later said it would not be including.

The back cover art must have been approved early on and they never changed it.

Same thing happened on the Critters set, and I’m sure others, but that one I distinctly remember cause it was Scott Grimes.

Hmmm I wonder what happened there. If they just didn’t get the interview or felt they couldn’t use it. (I wonder the same for the production manager)

I’m sure someone with screen caps will come in here and tell you how wrong you are.

I swear I read that the Critters interview was done but for “legal reasons” they couldn’t use it. I say “swear” because of course I can’t find anything to back this up and I have no reason whatsoever to make that up haha. Could be many reasons though.

After negative comments of H1 video compression I decided to wait H1 out until further investigation, and instead picked up H2 at BB. Fantastic improvement in PQ although can't speak to how it originally did or should look as I'm a late coming fan. There is a color push... pumpkin maybe? But is it original or correct don't know. If there is compression like they're saying there is on H2, I didn't notice any. And just like the DTS-X on The Thing, the the Atmos thins out the Carpenter mood music so the 5.1 is better.

That shit is being blown way out of proportion. No one is going to notice any of this if you just sit down and watch the damn movie instead of looking for faults...which...might I add...everything has.

Why do you suppose Michael
[Show spoiler]stops in his tracks and does his little head tilt thing when Laurie calls his name at the end of the film? Was that just an instance of his human side negotiating with his "evil" side? Or did he had a moment of empathy for his cowering baby sister?

Interesting. On that note, I wondered why Dr Loomis accepts a cigarette then acts surprised and eventually thows it away when the cop offers him a lite. I also enjoyed being able to read the sign Major Surgery and Minor Surgery on the doors thanks to 4k and HDR.

That way it gave him a reason to have the lighter at the end of the movie.
