A couple of questions:
1. Is there a way to sort the collection by the aspect ratio. If not, is there any way to get statistics on how many movies is in each ratio?
2. Is there an easy way to mark the movies as watched in bulk. May be with a default watched date?

Sorry if I am posting in the wrong thread.

Could Country be added to the stats for collections. From that I could see the percentage of my Blu-ray's from different countries.

I totally agree! I've been asking for this or some type of search function on the user's cast and crew section. It's nice to see others would be interested too. But I would like the option to still see them ranked, though. This is a great site and I really hope this gets added.

I like the BD tags, would be great if it could be expanded upon a bit, to indicate what size of image to use.

For example:
BD=1 - Would be the small image
BD=2 - Would be the medium image
BD=3 - Would be the large image

Here is the default, which is the large image.
[BD=3]26532[/BD] or [BD]26532[/BD]

Here is the medium image:
[BD=2]26532[/BD]

Here is the small image:
[BD=1]26532[/BD]

Could a watch count be added to ones collection, so that I can keep track on how many times I have watched a title.

Question

Just was curious if there was an API for blu-ray.com, or if there was one in the works?

Also, for the quick search up top is there a way to exclude things like 3D or Trilogy?

and finally, is there a way to search where the search query matches at the start of the line (ex: ^LOST)? for example 'LOST' first result is 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park Blu-ray' rather than 'LOST' the tv show...

Another thought on the [BD][/BD] tags, you could use the link to the page itself as well as the ID,

so
[BD]26532[/BD]
[BD]https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Dazed-and-Confused-Blu-ray/26532/[/BD]
[BD]https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=26532[/BD]

Would all result in

and if you incorporated my earlier suggestion:
the following would also produce the same result as above:

[BD=3]26532[/BD]
[BD=3]https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Dazed-and-Confused-Blu-ray/26532/[/BD]
[BD=3]https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=26532[/BD]

It would be easier to use as most browsers support copying link from the right click context menu.

Exclamation Would this be possible?

Hi!
I'm sorry is this had been suggested and failed somewhere along the way:

Would it be possible to have a blu-ray entered as owned for X version, to then have that title show up as owned everywhere on the site?

That would be for all releases, single disc, BD w/DVD, etc. Everything would probably tie to the title of the movie owned. This way it wouldn't matter if you owned an Australian release, a German release, etc. they would all show in your collection.

I have no idea what kind of programing that would take, however I've noticed some of the movie data is linked through Inheritage. Possibly that could be used?

Any insight appreciated

I don't really understand the request. What do you mean 'show up', so every version would be marked as owned?

Why would I want the Austrailian edition of a movie in my collection if I don't actually own that collection? Look at the number of releases worldwide for The Dark Knight, I don't want them all showing up in my collection unless I actually own them. I'm not sure if that is what you are asking. I'm confused by what you mean by " have that title show up as owned everywhere on the site?"

Well there is an individual movie table, that all versions are tied to, so thats how they filter out deals for titles you already own, etc.

I see the confusion now. The issue is more is you own a German or Australian release and stay mainly on the US site. I know what I'm trying to express, I'm just not doing it very eloquently.

No problem.

Are you talking about the Deals banner? The Thumbnails at the top?

What do you mean by 'Show up on the site'?

If you are talking about the deals, there are options under the Site Preferences Settings, found here:
https://www.blu-ray.com/community/settings.php

Under Filter out collection
"Select if you want to filter out titles in your collection from the deals banner. You can choose to filter out the exact editions in your collection (other editions of movies in your collection will still be shown), or filter out all editions of the titles in your collection (you will not see any editions/versions of movies already in your collection)."

Your choices are:
  • No filtering
  • Filter exact editions
  • Filter all editions

Is that what you are looking for?

A couple of suggestions:

1. First of all I noticed that my home country is still saying "Holland" instead of "The Netherlands". Although it is generally accepted to be called Holland as well, the official name is The Netherlands.

Here's a good explanation (if you want to take the time to read it):
http://www.cgpgrey.com/blog/the-diff...he-netherlands

It refers to some common mistakes made and compares it to well known US and German examples.

So basically: can you please change the country name site wide to The Netherlands? (Don't forget the "The" ;-) )

2. Within the PS3 games I see a range of options you can select, whether it has 3D functionality, Move capability and so on. I would like to see the following options added as well:
- resolution: 720p or 1080p
- required hard drive space (seriously useful for those 12 GB slim users out there)
- number of offline players (from x to y, not just a max)
- change the maximum online players to "from x to y players", sometimes online play requires at least x number of players
- ability to have a seperate screenshot section, apart from the covers
- just like Blu-ray Discs: available languages
- just like Blu-ray Discs: available subtitles/menus
- just like Blu-ray Discs: available audio (DTS / Dolby Digital)

The above would of course also be a nice addition for the upcoming Playstation 4 and Xbox One games.

Canada Ease of use suggestion

Three ideas although 2 of them are quasi related.

First I like the fact we can sift through our own titles quickly using the alphabet/number list at the top of our titles, but it would make organization and flipping through titles easier and more user friendly if the alphabet/number feature were also at the bottom of the page when looking at our titles and those in our wish lists, etc.... Similarly, the "Next" or "Prev" click-on buttons at the bottom of the various list of titles web-pages would be made more accessible and user friendly if they were also included at the top of the web page lists along with the alphabet/number feature.

The last idea I had is similar for searching and such, and that is to make a similar alphabet/number system available for the titles listed in the master list when you are trying to search for a title and you want to add a season or variation of the same title already in the database.

Thanks for your time reading my suggestions, and thanks very much for providing this service! You people do an awesome job!

Default Duplicate titles

It would be awesome if in the case of duplicate titles such as re-releases, collectors editions, or different packaging etc... if there was a section that stated in the overview or review what exactly the disc offers or contains that's different than all the past releases. Most of the time as in the case with Seven Psycopaths and its re-release, the review will simply direct you to check out the previous review of the older/different release. This offers no information on the new additions or subtractions to the disc.

Granted, there are some titles/reviews that do go into detail on what a new edition offers, this isn't always the case. I was just wondering if this could be spread out across the board to all titles with different editions as it is very useful and informative.

This can also prevent long hours (ok not that long but you know) searching through and double posting on forums in order to find out some info that is clearly known to some but not to everyone.

Site is great. Keep up the good work.

Thanks!

Default relative difference values on price tracker

This is a suggestion for the Price Tracker pages.

It would be great if we added one or two sortable columns - a sourceable one would be the %off field that occurs next to the price on each item's page, for example an item that says: "Amazon: $12.49 (Save 50%)" would have a %off field of 50. That way we can see where the biggest deals are relative to total price.

Another way to approach "relative price differences" would be a column that just does math on two of the existing columns - the "price diff" column, which says in dollars and cents how close to your ideal price something is, divided by the "my price" value. That way the following example would read:

Item 1; Price 7.64; My price 6; Price diff 1.64; Relative diff 27%
Item 2; Price 19.96; My price 16; Price diff 3.96; Relative diff 25%

...so that we could see that, relatively, some deals on larger items are just as good as the obvious deals on dump-bin fodder.

This might not strike everyone as a must-implement thing, but price tracker is the main reason I'm on this site. I probably buy about one film a week on average, and I've been keeping my costs way way down... but I usually find myself doing the math on box sets and whatnot to try and talk myself into spending a few extra dollars. It would be great if the site just did that for me.

The 2 things I've asked about, but received no comments on were these:

1.) Can you please add XBox titles to show on the users posts just like PS3, Blu-ray and DVD collections.

2.) Can we PLEASE increase the available character count for Comments? I don't know what it is now, but maybe even double it. I doubt most comment on more than a few titles in their collections, but for tracking viewings on large boxsets, it would be very handy.
