You need to go to the 2.5 staircase thats at the end of the level. As you go down the first flight of stairs its very easy to miss. I got extremely frustrated as you did. But once you see it, you'll hit yourself very hard.

Thanks for all the help mike, but it's alright, I'm done. I have too many games to catch up on and MW2 and Dragon Age will be sucking up a lot of my time soon so this one's getting traded.

I don't mind hard stuff, but random BS that kills you is where I draw the line.

Why do I get the feeling everyone goes through this?

I can't remember how many times I had a controller pointed at my TV screen ready to be launched while cursing.

You should try level 4-2.......talk about random **** that kills you. Their like ghosts that teleport behind you and were one hit killing me. It took about 20 deaths to figure out what the hell I was doing wrong.

What do you mean by starecase 2.5?

Is it before or after the NPC that's invisible throwing arrows?

I've found the key to rescue Freke but can't open Ridell's door???

Before getting the ''Warden key'' there was a little old guy looking at some kind of magic telling me he was not going to give me any trouble but someone wrote ''liar'' on the floor so I didnt take any chances and killed him before I took the key...Was that any bad?

I don't find this game random at all. When you go through the level again, that same demon will be there at the same spot ready to stab you in the back again. Just gotta remember where he is, and stab him in the back first.

Haha... I've had quite a few frustrating momemts. Most of them centered around the Flamelurker. No demon or black phantom aggrivated me to the level that he did, nor killed me as much. I seriously thought about quitting the game at that point because I didn't think I'd be able to advance at all. Glad I didn't and kept going.

I don't think they "teleport" behind, so much that they just respawn, and their respawn point happens to be beind you. After you kill the second ghost, if you have a bow, you can kill the Reaper they belong to (on the next level platform down, behind the third ghost. He's hard to see, and incredibly easy to miss if you don't know he's there. Look for the white of his eyes when taking aim. Once he's dead, all of the ghosts on the steps should poof.

They key for Rydell's door is in 3-2. His key can be found on the very top of the tower with the first group of worshippers.

I killed the dude too based off the message on the floor. Dunno what happens if you let him live and grab the keys.

The wardens key opens up the doors on 2.5. Its a very small hallway. You will start on 3, go around, go up to 4, then go down 3 stairs. This is 2.5 There are 2 doors recessed from the hallway. These doors open a path to the back of the big thing that shoots arrows, but it sounds liek youre already past that. Ridells key is in 3-2. It requires pure white world. Its about 1/3 of the way in the level. You will come to a tower with guys "praying" to a big glowing stone. Kill them, then continue up the stairs. If your world is pure white, there will be a small white bridge that you can cross to get key.

The guy that says he wont hurt is is liar. He will resummon/ressurect the Boss unless you kill him.

Its the last staircase you go to before you see Ridell. Its inbetween the levels in the actual staircase.

He was Sage Freke that you killed.

EDIT: Wait...if its the guy that you said he'll give you no harm, then do kill him. I figured you weren't that far because you didn't know about the 2.5 staircase.

OK, THANKS for the fast answers...You guys looks like you have just as much work as me right now.

I have another question about 3-1...On the same level as Ridell...there is a hallway blocked with a big block that leads to the other side of the room and in every cells it's all glowing full of nice surprises...How can I get there? Does it have anything to do with White World Tendency? Or it's just me missing something?

I saw also on another site that I'm supposed to find an old woman that sells stuff in a cell in 3-1...Anybody knows where is that old woman? I figured I might have killed her thinking she was a bad stinky prisoner

I can't think of specifically where you are talking about, but I don't recall any World Tendency reflecting where you can access or not. There's probably a staircase somewhere that leads to that level that you might have overlooked in your first pass, or an area that you couldn't access until you triggered an event.

She's not a stinky prisoner, and you wouldn't accidentally mistake her for one. During part of the level you have to go outside of the tower (there will be a octopus-faced demon on the walkway - do they have a name?). As you come back inside there is a large cell on the right hand side. In there will be the NPC. You can hear her singing if you listen closely.

Vague answers, but hope they help. I can fire the game up some night and get more specific directions if you need.

There is actually some debris blocking the Venerable Sage's gear (if you want to look like Freke) and a Three-Cornered hat (if you're a lady) on the second floor by Rydyell that only goes away with Pure White World Tendency.

It is much simpler than you made it.

You can not access a lot of the cells unless your World Tendency is at certain levels (usually pure black or pure white). Things change in levels at different world tendencies. There are two keys (if I recall correctly) you can't even get without pure black tendency (might be only one). Also, that big collapsed block stuff goes away at pure black.

You can make it pure black easily by being in your body than killing yourself in the level (do it where it's easy to get your stuff back as spirit). From pure white it's about 7-9 body kills to get to pure black. Getting back to pure white can be much harder if you do not have any bosses left, so I won't go into it now (I like to do the pure white stuff first for this reason).

Per the other comment someone made about the 'little old guy with liar on the floor' that sounds like the sage npc that sells you all your spells and such in the nexus after you release him from his cell. Guess you'll get those spells in New Game+!

Luck only increases the frequency of item drops rather than the quality, which is the reason most people avoid putting soul levels into it. Generally easier to just equip a Large Sword of Searching and change tendency to Pure Black if you want to farm for something. On the other hand, if for some reason you want to main the Blueblood Sword, then that's a reason to dump points into Luck.

Edit - And Proteus just accidentally got it backwards. Key is Pure White Tendency as mentioned before by others. Primary reason for Pure Black in World 3 is Black Phantom Rydyell and the Primeval Demon.

Wo wo wo...
This game is anything but random, when you get back to some place the mobs have exactly the same behaviour as before.

The only random parameter is YOU ! So please don't blame it on the game when you can't beat a level that has been beaten by thousands of people before, even if it's a bit annoying but then again, when a game's too easy people blame it.

It's just a matter of patience and cautiousness. When I try and rush to kill very easy mobs, I end up dying (or almost) because I thought I was a badass, which the game always reminds you you're not ! lol

I do agree, though, that the game can be very cruel and unforgiving, and that 3-1 is very stressful when you run through it the first time (too dark maybe?). When you get to know the traps, it gets much better.

But after all, maybe playing other games will suit people who quit better.

Really? I love 3-1. It's so tiny that once you know where everything is, it takes no time at all to run through it. As long as you wear a Thief's Ring, the Mind Flayers are a push over. Just wait till they turn around then wail on their back. The Dreglings and Legion, in turn, will only kill you if you make silly mistakes.

5-2 I definitely agree is awful. My main issue is that it's just lazy map design. They couldn't stick some trees or a mist or something in the map? There are barely any enemies so it's just you slowing walking through mud while popping Royal Lotus from time to time. Boring!

3-1 is even easier with a dark silver shield or the spell Anti-Magic Field. That paralyzing spell is definately a ***** no matter what level you are.
