STORY

King Allant the XII, the last king of Boletaria, searched tirelessly to expand his might. The Nexus, a great ice shrine nestled in the mountains, bestowed the power of the souls onto him, bringing prosperity to his kingdom. Still unsated, he returned again to the Nexus, where he foolishly awakened the Old One from its eternal slumber. This long forgotten evil, now wrought upon Boletaria, plunged the realm into darkness and fog. A mighty demon horde poured into the kingdom, devouring the souls of men.

Champions from other realms learned of Boletaria's fate and sought to deliver the kingdom from evil; none would return from the cursed land. Called upon by a mysterious maiden in black, you go forth, the last hope for humanity in a place lost to demons and darkness...

FEATURES
  • Ultimate hardcore RPG challenge -- In this brutal land, death is inevitable, but not final. Combining the best features of an action game and RPG, you'll slice, smash, shoot, and ensorcel some of the most horrible, vicious enemies ever encountered. Are you strong enough to face the impossible and win?
  • Groundbreaking online capabilities -- Network features go far beyond any previous RPG, allowing players to leave hints for each other, replay death scenes, cooperatively revive dead players, or invade another player's game to wreak havoc. Not merely an add-on feature, multiplayer options are vast, and uniquely focused on changing and intensifying the single player experience.
  • Freeform and flexible -- The open-ended structure of the game means that there is no single path, but rather a wealth of options. Set your own pace and progress as you like. Build exactly the character you want by creating a detailed avatar, nurturing the right stats, and customizing your skills and equipment.
  • You act, the world reacts -- The World Tendency system changes the aggressiveness of monsters and the rewards for killing them based on players' actions. Different events and NPCs may be triggered, as well.

Looks like their most interesting title since OTOGI, certainly most interesting art style.

- Create your own hero with many customization options.
- You will have to battle against huge monsters.
- Monsters can apparently change form (giant butterfly, powerful dragon, etc.)
- The game gives freedom to the player.
- Playable at Tokyo Game Show.
- due 2009.

I've seen a lot of threads created regarding titles being released in Japan. Has there been any word with a US Port for any of them?

that sounds pretty cool, hope the story is good and it all comes together.

Whats the average wait time for an RPG to get translated for NA? Or is there even an "average' time?

3-6 months for an English translation and localisation.

Depends on the company really, SCE are quicker than most though. I think the slowest are Square or Atlus...

I'm cautiously hopeful, but I actually bought and played through Enchanted Arms (also made by From Software).

To say Enchanted Arms was uninspiring would be an understatement. Horrible storyline, horrible voice acting, occasionally ridiculous gameplay (dancing for your power meter... really?), lame puzzle-lite 3rd person action elements. It was... sort of... rescued by decent tactical gameplay, but that was grossly overshadowed by the other flaws.

It was, and remains, the only game I have ever sold back to a store because I simply had zero interest in keeping the game.

Yeah!...thank god SCE is involved with this!...now if only we can get Sony to buy Atlus and Level 5, we'd be set with quality RPGs for life!

Maybe you should wish for Atlus and Nippon Ichi because Level 5 seems to be wanting to do their own thing.

Siliconera have posted an article on it.

Quote:
Enkaku Sousa: Sanahe no 23 Hiai (Distant Investigation: Truth into the 23rd Day) has players look into the life of a murder suspect who has been wrongly accused. Coincidently, he’s an amnesiac. Now you’re responsible for piecing together the clues. Enkaku Sousa takes place over a period of 23 days through a system of logic battles. Media Vision, the company behind the Wild Arms system is acting as the developer.

Enkaku Sousa is scheduled to come out this winter, which likely represents sometime in 2009.

It's an RPG.

No one complain regardless how crappy it may or may not turn out, please.

We want more RPG's!

Sweet! Hope this means we'll see the game by August 2009. It's has a very western appeal, I'd eat this up day one. Though the TGS build needed some serious polish, hope thats out of the way by February.
