However, the one thing that concerns me is that after closely inspecting the disc surface; there is a small scratch about half way between the centre and edge of the disc. I'll have to watch the movie before being certain, but so far this flaw doesn't seem to affect playback. The Maximum Movie Mode also seems to work just fine. I am hoping this is not a wide spread issue with disc handling at the replication facility. ![]() After batting a thousand, this is my first BD with a scratch. ![]() Last edited by Hep; 07-22-2009 at 01:22 PM. |

Having never seen a 2-disc blu steelbook, I was a little worried the way the case is made might lead to a scratch where the second disc's locking circle is. Which sounds to be at the same place your scratch is located.
Otherwise, my futureshop steel didn't skip during that scene and everything seems to work properly. Loud action/Soft dialogue issue is quite annoying though, which is why I use subtitles most of the time. |

Just to let everyone who commented on my post know- I just finished watching the movie and took the disc out to look at it; it has a weird little scratch on it and it has some weird small peppered marks on it as well. I'm off to Best buy first thing in the morning. I'm honestly glad it hasn't happened to anyone else =)
Thanks for the friendly replies. |

Just finished watching it. I didn't really enjoy it much in the theaters, despite loving the book, but I really got into it this time around. The
[Show spoiler] I can't believe they didn't leave that in for the theaters. [Show spoiler] That's the only thing that really bugs me in comparison to the book. PQ/AQ were great, it's hard to get used to Warner titles being so good!

Oh yeah, am I missing it somewhere, or did they NOT include the kick-ass trailer with the Smashing Pumpkins song ANYWHERE on either disc? Watching that on my system was one of the things I was looking forward to the most, I love that trailer.

Watched it tonight. Have to give it a NO as far as the film is concerned. I sometimes wondered what the heck did I just watch? I admit not being familiar with the graphic novel, then again I was unfamiliar with X-MEN when I saw that and loved it!! I just didn't find the characters or story compelling.
I'm not a fan of the stylized picture. I felt there were moments when we were robbed of the finest detail, however it was a fairly sharp picture, however I think that 300 had more fine detail than this film and that one was intentionally grainy. However i'll accept that the film is suppose to look that way and so no major issues. I'm glad i'm not the only one who had to keep turning their volume knob up about 5dbs over my standard for DTSMA. I'm betting that Warner actually used the non-default dialnorm setting as i've never had to raise a DTSMA track this high before! However once I got a good level, the soundtrack had lots of punch. While the sounds can be very aggressive at times, i'm suprised by the lack of discrete effects and panning in this film. While well recorded, it didn't display the finest of detail to rank it as reference. However I will say that no one will be disappointed with this track. |
