I had mixed feelings about this one until I saw the trailer last night. That seems to be the general attitude, but unlike most, I have zero interest now, and it was the last scene that did it for me. Pennywise's "new look" certainly doesn't help, either, as the innocent clown angle has now been replaced with something that reminds me of a bumper sticker on a Juggalo's shitty car.

I'm crossing my fingers for the success of this one, because we all know that mainstream horror needs a shake-up right now, but I'll probably wait for a stream. This doesn't scream "$60 night at The Drafthouse with my girlfriend" to me, and I'm a little bummed about that. The book is among King's best and the original "film" is a trash fire (but a fun one).

Is it really a classic though? Most King novels that get made into films end up being lame or missing the mark at best.

I do agree that they are on a remake/reboot "tear" and it gets old. But some of these lesser-liked older titles are better to be remade than bonafide classics like Ghostbusters ot The Matrix.

I would hate to have to look at present-day Corey Feldman for 2 hours

Nah, I think It will beat it easily. The trailer has got over 10 million views on YouTube already, not counting all the duplicates. It's trending at #1. Everybody and their nan is excited about it. I really think this'll be big.

Even my local news facebook page posted the trailer. Can't wait for this. I've watched the trailer numerous times already.

Judging by how Pennywise looks in this film, I'm going to guess he's sounds child-like. Where as Tim Curry's Pennywise sounded like he had a New Jersey accent.

I thought just the opposite. After seeing him in action in that same scene, I think this could be pretty decent now. It's a clown, so he supposed to be...clownish?

There's actually a good amount of King film adaptions I think are terrific. They may not follow the book exactly but for films being based on his novels I would say The Shining, IT 1990, Christine, Pet Sematary, Cujo, Cat's Eye, The Dark Half, Carrie 1976, The Dead Zone, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Stand by Me, Misery and Silver Bullet are all excellent films with Carrie, The Shining and Shawshank Redemption being masterpieces.

There are quite a bit of duds though too.

Does it bother anyone the age of Pennywise? I believe Bill Skarsgård is in his 20s. I dont know, for me, I always felt Pennywise was an older character

Not particularly. I don't think they could find a 100 million year old to play pennywise accurately.

I always pictured him as an older guy as well. Even his alias Bob Gray sounds like a man in his mid 50s or so. But I think Bill will be just fine, since he is always in make up. And IT being eternal and all, he is essentially ageless, so it might work out just fine.
