You should get a door prize for being the first person I've heard use the word 'literally' correctly in its last 1000 uses.

When it comes to incorrectly using "literally" I am literally the worst.

I guess we can agree each movie has its faults (some more than others) but here's to great audio and picture quality because most of us are buying them all anyway

One scene that really bugs me to this day from TLW is when Julianne Moore basically falls off a roof, goes through a building, crashes out a window, then gets up like huh? whaa? then runs away without a scratch.

It's not her ethnic origin that's the problem, it's that she's so charmless you'd have thought that after a couple of days filming they would have had a meeting & decided that she just wasn't working, but it's an awful film, Spielberg's second worse after Crystal Skull. I thought World was also terrible, I tried to watch it twice, but I just couldn't, & I gave away the Blu-ray. Why can't Hollywood come up with likeable kids? And a really stupid thing about World (sorry if someone's already mentioned it)...They think the super dino has escaped (I don't know why, the claw marks only go a short way up the wall) so they open up the big doors, but...the dino has a chip emplanted, all they had to do was phone headquarters & ask for his exact location!!

But all these films are really the same...Somethings gone wrong! The dinos are loose & are eating extras & bit-part players, but by some really far fetched ducking & diving, where they almost, but not quite get caught, the leads escape. The End.

Likable kids? The kids that played Anakin Skywalker, in SW: Episode I, and young Boba Fett, in SW: Episode II, were phenom--- okay, I can't even finish that sentence.

lol

Are you aware that Jake Lloyd's career ended early because of people hating him so much?

Thank you for reminding me why I hate Jurassic World with every cell in my body. If there's a single title being the best example of what is wrong with modern blockbusters, then it's JW. It's even worse in its calculated, corporational artificial nostalgia bullshit than Force Awakens. Ewww.

As for The Lost World, I love it. It was impossible to top first Jurassic Park, which in my opinion is a pure masterpiece, so I appreciate they tried something else than simply doing the same movie all over again. (If only people responsible for atrocity known as Jurassic World understand that)

It looks different, it feels different and it has so many great, memorable scenes!

I can't be the only one who is pretty much okay with modern blockbusters, can I? I mean, by definition they set out to please the lowest common denominator, so we should all go into them knowing what to expect, right?

I rarely go into big budget movies expecting to them to be a cinematic masterpiece. It's just a nice surprise when they happen to be. There are still tons of great movies out there if you want to look for them.

The first one was dead on arrival movie nobody asked for from overrated director, the second one is just a stupid animation for kids.

What about them?

Look at my collection. I own a TON of crap. I was raised on blockbusters. And yet I just can't dismiss any and all problems with a wave of the hand, saying "but they're supposed to be crap!" as a get-out clause. People can actually write interesting characters and create situations that don't defy all sane logic and reason in a blockbuster, but it seems to be a dying art right now.

It's not that movies aren't allowed to indulge in that stuff at all - it's called "movie logic" for a reason - it's more that there's an ever-increasing reliance on dumb shit happening for the sake of it, the story strung together by a patchwork of writers who've been given a list of set-pieces around which to try and build a narrative. The Transformers movies are a case in point, they're all wildly variably in the quality of their plotting but the last movie was an utter stinker, even within the standards of that particular franchise.

Haha, yeah the Transformers movies are a mess and if every movie was like that I would probably lose my mind. But I still think they have their place. And I can’t lie—Last Knight was my favorite of the bunch.

Dude, I genuinely love Dark of the Moon, have a lot of time for the first one and Age of Extinction, even Revenge of the Fallen has its moments ("Fuel the jet! Fuel the jet!") but ohmaigawd, Last Knight is execrably nonsensical. I wanna slap every one of the characters, there's no chemistry between any of them, the action is even more bewildering than usual (not helped by the ADHD aspect ratio switching) while at the same time stealing from the Bayformers playbook in rather obvious ways (oh look, people parachuting from Ospreys! Again!), oh it's just a hideously bad film.

Yeah it’s nonsense but it has my favorite cast in the series. Other movies in the series are more well put together for sure, but I had a lot more fun watching this cast than any other ensemble. That’s not to say it shouldn’t have been about 45 minutes shorter, but that’s par for the course with Transformers.

lol I am fully aware of the hatred. He was just gawd awful, which is why I couldn't even finish the sentence of him being phenomenal. haha

Young Boba Fett was worse, in my opinion. Thankfully he had a lot less screen time then young Ani. When Jango and Boba are chasing Kenobi through the asteroid field the things he says are just stupendously groan-worthy. "Get 'im, dad! Get 'im!!! FIIIYYYAAAAAAAAA!!!!!"

You know what's even sadder? Daniel Logan was 14 when he played that role. I'd expect that kind of stuff from a 6, 7, or 8 year old. Also, what's even sadder than that, he was even nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Supporting Actor in his role in Attack of the Clones.

Honestly, I can tolerate and even enjoy A LOT of Hollywood tripe, but bad kid actors is about the least of my tolerance.

As an example of my enjoyment of Hollywood tripe, I have very little qualms or gripes about the Transformer Franchise. In all it's stupidity, ridiculousness, and the relative utter destruction of my childhood favorite past time, I still thoroughly enjoyed watching each movie multiple times.

I learned a lot about myself and my tolerance for Hollywood tripe after seeing Suicide Squad. That was my limit. Since watching that abomination I’ve been able to tolerate nearly anything and even enjoy objectively bad films by simply reminding myself “hey, at least it’s not Suicide Squad!”
