Ooh, the bad guy was previously an FBI profiler, so he just knows where Clive Owen must be. I consider this sheer laziness, rather than a knowing wink at simply parodying the genre.

The crass disregard for the enormous body count, the sequence at the gun factory, the use of the tank - everything was ridiculous, but not in a tongue-in-cheek way. I found the script to be appallingly arrogant. So smug, and because of that, worthy only of my contempt.

Interesting... I think this is one of the most fun, badass guy flicks out there.

Its beauty is that absolutely every aspect is utterly ridiculous. Its a fantastic comedy, with non-stop bullets whizzing, a lactating prostitute and a necropheliac villain who takes phonecalls from his pushy wife during gun battles. Worked for me.

Boyz n the Hood
Friday
Malcolm X

Life
Set it Off
Harlem Nights
The Best Man

Reservior Dogs

I only had to watch the opening scene, but man, I can't just watch the opening scene to my fave movie ever. I had to watch it all.

I don't know why I love this movie so much, or why it's my fave, it's certainly not the best film I've seen, I don't even think it's Tarantino's best. It's certainly not the most entertaining movie I have watched. I just keep coming back to it.

9.5/10 (11/10 personal enjoyment)

PQ 7/10 (dated, but nice for what it is)
AQ 8.5/10 (sounds good)

Touching the Void - 4.5/5

Excellent documentary about 2 young men who attempt to climb a very dangerous peak in Peru - one that no man has successfully summited. Their journey goes terribly awry and one of their lives hangs, literally, on the others decision... and an amazing tale of survival ensues.

Highly recommend this one, especially if you're a fan of climbing.

Next greatest rental: “The Mask of Zorro.” Finally!

Compared to its sequel, this film is definitely superior. Better story, better action, a better-looking style, etc.

Even on its own merits (or compared to other swashbuckling blockbuster adventures), the movie is not bad. The story is pretty decent, and the characters are enjoyable. It’s a very upbeat romanticist adventure with plenty of action, comedy, and spirit. It is well-made, well-acted (for what it’s supposed to be), and has a decent production value.

4/5 (entertainment: 4/5, story: 3.5/5, film: 4/5)

Next greatest rental: “Videodrome.”

Wow, I knew that too much TV could be bad for a person, but this film puts “The Ring” to shame!

This is one of those weird wild (sci-fi?) films loaded with wicked gnarly stuff. It’s right up there with “Scanners” or “The Naked Lunch.” Very strange and fascinating…

However, I didn’t find this film really engaging until the later half, and I don’t think there’s much of a story to it.

3.5/5 (entertainment: 3.5/5, story: 3/5, film: 4/5)

I was let down when I first saw this as well. I went into the theaters with certain expectations and was pretty disappointed. I gave it another shot when I got into blu-rays, now I LOVE it. It really is a kickass film.

I loved when Giamatti hired 50 professional assasins to
[Show spoiler]take Clive out. All 50 have fully auto machine guns and clear shots at Clive, but not one of them can hit him. And of course, Clive kills every single on of them. And then Giamatti says "Wow, he is really good, or, we really suck"

And fer christs sake man, he's running around killing people with a facking carrot. Genius stuff man.

In the theater, during the first few minutes I was thinking "This is stupid and ridiculous" and then it dawned on me oh.... I see what they are doing here. And then it was from there out. You just have to join the insanity, dont fight it.

I completely agree. I didn't see this until well after it was out on Blu-ray, so I pretty much knew what to expect. Like you said, it is such a blast because everything is so ridiculous and that is the point. Obviously it's not for everyone, and I'm not going to knock people for not liking it, but it is extremely entertaining for me. I just sit back and laugh at quite a bit of it.

[Show spoiler]F*ck you, ya f*ckin f*ckers. That scene on the rooftops where they shoot out the lighted sign is priceless.

Extreme Movie 6/10

Pretty funny movie. There were some parts that weren't funny but most of it was if you like that kind of comedy. The story with Andy Milonakis was the funniest one. The one about the girl with the phone was short and sweet.
