Was there really any doubt? I know they were saving Neve for last to build the hype but still seeing the official confirmation makes me giddy. Sidney Prescott is one of my favorite movie characters ever and I truly believe that these new directors will give her iconic character the respect she deserves. Best news to come out of this dumpster fire of a year thus far!

Scream 5 Rounds Out Cast

Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mikey Madison are set to join in Paramount and Spyglass’ new Scream pic.

Marley Shelton has closed a deal to reprise her role that she played in previous installments. They join franchise cast members Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox who’ll reprise their respective roles, as well as new cast members Jack Quaid, newcomer Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. The production will shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina

God I hope Hicks dies horribly very early in the movie, one of the worst characters in 4 by far and the only bloody one to make it through to the sequel!

I think the big news here is that with Hick's character confirmed as returning, it basically confirms that this will be a sequel to Scream 4 and won't ignore the previous sequels.

This cast is STACKED. Shaping up to be the best cast of the franchise, I love every choice. And I love the diversity.

Having Sid officially back and this being a direct sequel to Scream 4 has been very excited!

They better not underuse Neve though. I swear if she dies and/or just shows up for a couple scenes, I'm gonna be furious.

I will be too - but I feel like Neve wouldn’t have agreed to this unless her role was substantial or meaningful. She wouldn’t sign on just to die or have a quick cameo. And the filmmakers are huge fans of the original movies and of Sidney as a character - I feel like they will want to do her justice and also in honor of Wes.

I’d love to see Kirby still alive - that would be incredible fan service and I reckon these filmmakers might be savvy enough to surprise us with a secret Panatiere.

I don’t want Gail to buy it but it might be her time - of the holy trinity she’s the most likely to check out I reckon, plus Cox’s face could barely move in the last film and that was a decade ago. ‘This is Gail Weathers signing off’

By contrast, Neve looked great and ‘natural’ in the last film, let’s hope she’s ageing gracefully and doesn’t resemble a botox cyborg trying to mimic Neve Campbell.

Gail is the LAST one I would want to kick it. And with the resurgence in popularity of Friends, I would imagine keeping Cox around makes even more sense.
