My friend works at Showcase Cinemas and said that they won't accept the card. Apparently their system just doesn't accept it? I don't know. I might still try it at the kiosk and see if I can get it to work but I'm not holding out hope. Probably going to have to end up cancelling this and trying to get a refund because Showcase is just about the only thing around me.

They don't take regular debit cards? There shouldn't be anything different about moviepass' card, unless they put like a $50 hold on the card just for the purpose of defeating this particular vendor (in which case that would also screw over regular people who don't have much money in their bank accounts that use debit).

I just got my card today. I waited 2 weeks since I ordered it. The theater that I watched (which was an AMC theater), which was an evening screening of dunkirk, and it accepted the card. The cashier did report to me that there were a few people that weren't able to get the card working, and that AMC told them that they do not accept moviepass. The app was rather buggy and it did delay when it was trying to add the reserve allowing the card to order the ticket, but I was ultimately able to use it to get my ticket. Pretty happy that I was able to get it working despite that AMC doesn't want people using it.

I was not able to find any shipping information from the app nor their website, and the last email that was sent to me when the cards would ship would be delayed by September 6th-10th (I got the card on the 5th). It just told me an email the card would ship within 5-7 business days (which it then delayed shipments). I really don't get why they don't have shipping info at least from the app.

But how will I see IT and mother!?

[Show spoiler]I actually do still have a $13 movie certificate from Crush Soda, so I'll just use that for IT since it's playing in IMAX here, then maybe the card will show up before next weekend if you catch my drift.

Yes, priorities are in order. So hopefully it comes soon. Need to see those. Especially the latter. Need to support that film

Aren't they getting paid The same amount anyway? It shouldn't matter

AMC can't really stop people and they know it. It is basically just a MasterCard debit card. The ticket kiosks will get you tickets no problem without some employee lying saying they don't accept them. Only way they could even try to stop it is if they stopped accepting MasterCard all together.

May have already been asked before, but once I receive my card, would it be possible to go to an AMC theater, open the movie pass app and select the movie id like to see, and then utilize the AMC app to purchase the ticket using the movie pass debit mastercard as the form of payment?

You should be able to, yes. It's just a debit card. The problem some people are having is that managers have told their box office employees to not accept those cards. So it's hit or miss I guess at AMC specifically, but if you go to a kiosk rather than the box office you'll have no issues.

He was saying using the AMC app, and not the box office or kiosk... He might run into problems doing that though. If your not stubs member there would be a fee the card would not cover. otherwise you have to be within the theater's area, not sure why you would want to use the app instead. Just use a kiosk. I have been doing it for two weeks and employees know no difference. Everything has worked perfectly with no lag or delays.

Yes the app. I am a stubs premiere member so the fees are waived. The AMC "Classics" theater I live by does not have kiosks so Im hoping this is a way to bypass any issues with employees when trying to purchase a ticket.

Put a piece of tape over the word "moviepass" on the debit card?

I don't think most clerks even notice it's a MoviePass card. I've gone to my AMC three times and all three, the teenager selling me the ticket just swiped the card without even blinking an eye.
