Here are some photos of it all.. The packaging and everything seemed totally normal (including stickers). The only thing that really made me question it was the disc art.. specifically the "Disney" logo (you can see in the example above it seems to have some "compression artifacts" around it, where the black meets the white, and seems a bit overall.. lower quality?

I popped it in and everything seemed normal (it wasn't just the movie only) and the video bitrate (according to the Oppo 203) seemed to hover around 80-90 mbps?

I don't have any other recent disney titles to compare the disc art to

That looks 100% like a properly pressed playing surface. FWIW I just checked my US edition (Target book thingy version) and the logos on the disc art look very poorly printed there too. I think you can rest easy.

It's fine. I have both the standard release and the Steelbook, both disc arts look awful (Steelbook is slightly better).

I bought this on eBay.. everything looks totally normal (case, artwork, slipcover) but the disc itself looks a little off. In particular, parts like the "Disney" logo just above the title seems very pixelated/compressed, like they used a low-res artwork on it. The rest of the art on the disc seems a LITTLE soft, but the compression on the logo seemed the most obvious. Is this how the disc is supposed to look? I wasn't sure if UHD 'bootlegs' were a thing?
Sounds like it's normal. Even Geoff's pic a few posts above look a little soft.

True UHD bootlegs are rare. Pressed UHD bootlegs are likely unheard of yet.
YHD transfers squeezed onto a BD-R are possible, but seems almost hard to believe if everything else is OK. Does it look burned or can you tell if it's on a BD25/50?

If it came withthe DMR and Digital code functioning then I'd say 100% legit

If this is a common issue, then I'm surprised more people haven't brought it up. (I don't have access to a 4K player so I can't test the disc. I just bought for future proofing purposes.)

Buying recently released titles from ebay is generally a bad idea though.
It's just a slight printing error with bad printing. I get those time to time with Universal Studios 4K discs too. It's like one side of the disc looks like it's pixelated and printed off some bootleg printer, and even the coloration doesn't look sharp (appears yellowish in color when the disclaimer should be in white). Has no effect on disc readability, so you're perfectly fine.

That is exactly what my disc looks like. So I guess that's just a normal disc and I'm good? It's just weird because all the other Disney 4K discs I bought so far don't look that low quality.

Something I really want is for the opening titles to go back to the way they used to be; back when the “Walt Disney Pictures Presents” text displayed over the hiding coral and the Silver Screen Partners credit was present over the jellyfish. Is that too hard to accomplish?

I don’t really see the point in putting an updated CGI logo from mid-2000s on a 1989 film. But probably that’s just me. People don’t seem to care.

At least they don’t change all of them.

Diamond edition colors are more accurate to the original movie.

You can't know that. You don't have the cells. Home videos didn't have such wide color gamuts back then, and the films distributed to theaters may not have been completely accurate either. Pick whichever looks better to you.

Thank you. I prefer the UHD of this over the blu-ray. Though I was hesitant at first because there are scenes on the UHD where Flounder is not the right color yellow he is supposed to be. It's more a washed out faded yellow in some scenes. But then it's fine in other scenes. I thought this was a flaw of the UHD until watching the Blu-ray while on vacation and noticed the same thing on it. The UHD is miles better than the blu-ray. I've noticed that with a lot of movies that I watched on vacation (brought a bunch of 4K UHDs with me in case I could watch some movies where I was at).

Default For those of you still wanting this title;

I just found on Target.com that The Little Mermaid Limited Edition 4K version is $16.49 which is insane given its normally $32.99; I went to the store to verify this and I got this and Ralph Breaks the Internet 4K UHD Limited Edition for $16.49 as well, I don't know how long it will last so act quickly!!

FYI, the regular 4K Edition is on sale also but $24.99, I think Target is trying to get rid of their Limited Editions. I tried for Lion King 4K UHD but they were all out of stock. Go in store and if they have in stock, get them to price match as it won't show up as the same price in-store.

Not sure grainy-er = better. Just pointing out the difference.

This deal has been around for something over a week. Mary Poppins returns is also part of it.

A lot of places (cities) are out of TLM and MPR, but most everywhere seems to have Ralph still available.

I didn't know MPR was part of the deal actually, thanks! Whats weird is that this only happens to be select Target Limited Edition 4K titles, as others I've found on the website are not for sale. Its certainly the Disney ones, as The Lion King is also part of the deal.

I may get MPR for my wife as it is in stock at a Target not far from me....

Hmmmmm I'm tempted. The Moorhead store has both Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins Returns. Wish they'd allow order pickup.
