Thanks.

I went ahead and ordered with my Visa. I saw their official website and good feedback. I've got no worries from them.

The break in and safe arrival are my biggest concerns right now. UPS or FedEx don't have me sign for anything that I order online. They just drop it off, so hopefully when they leave my TV there won't be any issues. As for break in, I'm researching that still and the Evangelo2's Break-in DVD seems to be what I should use. Any one use this break in DVD with a PS3 before?

That was quick! Glad I could save you a bit of money. They are the cheapest place to get stands from what I've seen.

The Evangello disc should work just fine. That's what Robert @valueelectronics uses to break in their Kuros....that's good enough for me.

Hey everybody! I'm a member of this elusive club now!
I just bought the Pioneer Elite PRO141FD!!

But of course, I can't read through 40+ pages of comments to find out how to properly "work-in" the TV. And what exactly are "D-Nice Settings"?
I haven't set the TV up yet as I have to wait for a friend to come help me with the sucker, so I'll be doing a lot of reading today, so feel free to post away! Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks muchly.

I found the AVS forums to have a wealth of information.

Here, for example is a link to the burn in process.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1053444

D-Nice is a member of the AVS forums who shares settings and other tech related stuffs. It's his post that I linked to for the burn in process.

Thanks Drew, but I have a few quick questions for any techies out there...

When they say 150 hour break-in period.. is this continuous? Am I supposed to turn the TV on and not turn it off again for 150 hours? That's almost a full week straight!

And is it true the best picture quality can only be achieved with a professional calibration?

Thanks!

The 150 hrs doesnt have to be continuous, but you shouldnt watch any other programming in between if you plan on using D-Nice's settings and getting the best out of them - The whole point of this break-in procedure is to age the phosphors on your TV in the exact same way as a TV that also ran 150 hours of this break-in disc & then later was calibrated by D-Nice. You will not get perfect results, since each TV is slightly different, but this is the closest you will get besides getting it professionally calibrated.

And yes, from all the information I have gathered, nothing beats getting your TV professionally calibrated by someone who is familiar with Pioneer Kuros

Quite upset now folks... I am unable to mount my 141FD on my wall due to the crappy metal studs inside the wall not being sufficient to support the TV's weight. I am too poor to pay for a reinforcement of the wall, so I was left with buying a suitable stand. The one in my HT Gallery right now will not fit the width of the 141FD so I had to replace it. Without buying both a stand, plus tabletop stand for the 141FD, I went with a stand and swivel pedestal mount.
After taking apart the old, setting up the new, running all the wires through the new stand and waiting on my brother to come help with the TV mounting... we discover that what the sales guy at the store calls "The only stand capable of holding your TV" is not capable at all. The swivel mount is not wide enough to hold the brackets on the TV. We cannot reposition the brackets on the TV as there are only one set of holes to screw in the brackets.
Inside the manual for the mount and stand it says "fits up to a 60" television weighing up to 154 pounds" and "CS hours are Mon-Fri 7am - 11pm" So at 10:15pm tonight, after discovering the tv won't fit the mount, I tried to call up the company, only to discover their hours are "mon-fri 7:30am - 7:30pm" WTF!?
I'm really bummed and really pissed that things just can't go right.. always have to be something to stop me from my high note

That sucks dude... the day I got my 101fd I was putting together the TV stand I was gonna mount it to. I put everything together but just could manage to attach the back metal plate to the back of the stand (connection from the stand to the rear brackets that attach to the TV). Turns our the plate wasnt cut right, and I had to wait for a replacement to come in!

For those that ordered the 500M online, did you have any issues when it was shipped to you?

I got mine from Abe's of Maine.

I'm using their premium trucking service (Icat?), and hopefully I will be contacted by them tomorrow to set up a delivery time.

I've bought expensive items on line before, but this is by far my most nerve racking wait. My biggest concern is having it in working order given these display's track history of broken deliveries. Best way to verify this is to use a flashlight to find cracks in/on the glass, and turn on the monitor to make sure it doesn't buzz heavily and shows the 'no input' display. The most important thing is to refuse delivery if you find damage! Especially from Abe's as they have a no return policy for TVs and they are not authorized dealers.

Hopefully you get yours in perfect condition, and ya, let me know how your process went down.

Thanks for the tips I will check in tomorrow once it arrives and I set it up. Good luck with your delivery

My Worst Nightmare came true! I just got my 500M delivered by RL carriers so I took a quick peek before the driver left and everything looked fine. Then he left and I started to really upack it and I saw a couple of hairline cracks on the top left of the panel. I called the store and they told me to send some pics and now I am waiting to hear back from them. I could cry! This really Fing sucks!

Man, know how you feel...same thing happened to me a month and a half ago when I had a 500m delivered to me. My driver left as well even after I had a quick gander (only noticed cracks later like you). Still waiting for my insurance refund from DHL (I paid extra for insurance). You are not alone, I almost cried as well. It is understandable considering the amount of anticipation that is built up waiting for it to arrive. Best of luck...

Thanks Man, Did you get a replacement? I know, I have been so stoked the past week and to have this happen is sad. Where did you buy yours from?

Sorry to hear this. You should never sign the release until you plug it in and everthing. Then you can refuse it and its back on the seller, I wouldnt care if the driver had to stand there for a hour. Also don't trash your box either. I really hope it goes good for you, I would be really nervous since I signed the release.

On the DHL claim, I thought you couldn't insure a tv over 42 inches, have they aproved the inspection?

Damn Sarge1976, I'm sorry to hear that as well. I was checking back hear just to see if you got yours yet when I see this shyt

I hope they'll still honor the exchange.

I heard that the 600M had problems arriving with cracked glasses, but I thought they had fixed that later on by re-doing the packaging. I haven't read anywhere that the 500's were arriving cracked. Man, oh man. Now I'm sweating over here. Mine has to come from northern NY to VA and that Jersey turnpike ain't no joke...not to mention the windy VA roads. I'll definately make that delivery man wait until I get mine plugged up before I'll sign anything.

If people could follow directions, this could all be avoided. They'll lay these things down on their side, even though it clearly states which end is up. Then they'll stack other shyt on top of them! You know what they say, though..."common sense ain't that common"

Wow... Sorry to hear that sarge.

For anyone wanting to know about the damages of these sets, here you go.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1129322

Basically you run a 33% chance of a broken 500m and a whopping 55% on the 600ms. You'll have better luck with premium shipping - but not much.

That thread I linked has lots of helpful info, so definitely read through it a bit. You are living my worst fear, sarge, as Abe's has far worse customer service with this type of thing given their return policy. Hope it works out for you, and fill us in when you know.
