Not sure if Atlantis II is digital enough to be upgraded to Blu (though it'll probably end up on the disk since it's the only other thing they've got), but dang it's good. If a Disney animated fails in theaters, it's usually because the script needed a second draft to figure out the appeal of the characters, and this's a good second draft that finally gives the characters something to do. (Even the comic-relief Moliere does actual things in the script besides just act goofy.)
In this case, we get three episodes of the failed Disney Channel "Team Atlantis" pilot, from the story editors of Gargoyles, with Milo, Kida and the research team now taking on world assignments for the museum...And since it IS the story editors from Gargoyles, yes, there'll be snooty attempts to reference every big of Classic World Mythology 101 the writers happened to know about.
As Yummy points out, the TV animation isn't quite up to movie standards (more like the Tarzan TV series), but if you wanted the story to play more like the Hellboy Animated series to go with the Mike Mignola character design, this is it.

Brother Bear II wasn't too bad, basically restates the central plot of the movie by "bringing the girls along this time", including for the Great White Mooses. Like Mulan II, not classic, but not too bad either, and fits perfectly as a "disk bonus" extra.

That's the problem, the extras on disc are sacrificed to make room for the cheapquels.

I actually remember liking this. I wouldn't mind having it

Pocahontas had a great 2-disc DVD edition and now all those are banished to BD-Live.

The DVDs from The Princess Diaries combo pack have all the extras and are not on the BD.

I'm probably WAY too late for this but is there a specific reason why Disney is doing the main/dtv combo packs? Is it just to get it out of the vault or is it really for adding value to the discs? So far the only movie combos I approve are Fantasia and Rescuers

...Darn, I'd thought they'd gotten over that, by now.

(CtToI, Atlantis had a good 2-disk DVD, which's how all the trouble started in the first place, but no one cared.)

Yes, myth.

Most of the time the extras fit just fine in there (especially in animated films). Disney just wants to push the "cloud" idea to the masses.

And they are not "banished", they are perfectly accessible. If you can't live with them not been on the disc and you don't want the "cheapquel", import one of the European versions. for consumers who have so many choices, you people complain an awful lot.

Possible: Piglet's Big Movie on Blu-ray

This also happened with The Tigger Movie. On January 12, they had also uploaded three 'Mini Adventures of Winnie the Pooh' videos featuring footage from The Tigger Movie in HD. On January 24, news were leaked by an industry insider that a Blu-ray release of the film was to be expected on August 14. The Tigger Movie is currently set for release on August 21.

Based on this pattern, I think we can expect a similar release window for Piglet's Big Movie.

I honestly don't think thats true. Just because Disney uploaded those clips doesn't mean that its going to be released. Pretty much the whole Many Adventures movie is uploaded with a new dub.

They're squeezing 2 features per disc, animated or not that's not a lot of space left over and if you have 7GB of extras, forget it.

Princess Diaries had no room for the original extras (and was fairly low bit rate compared to their single features). Neither will Pocahontas. Now you tell me again it's a "myth".

Imports aren't an option for most people, certainly not for Ma & Pa sixpack looking to entertain the young ones.

And Disney is no longer pushing BD-Live. They now have many high profile titles completely without that feature, so yes, banished is the perfect description.

I don't have Princess Diaries so I can't confirm if they run out of space.

Pocahontas 1/2 though are
1) 12,5GB (Video) + 1,9GB (Audio) = 14,4GB
2) 10,3GB (Video) + 1,3GB (Audio) = 11,6GB
That's 26 GB. You have 24GB left for French and Spanish DD 5.1 tracks, the Audio Commentary and the extras.. The extras could have fitted easily in my opinion

Disney has been pushing BD-Live as an streaming content for some time now (Fantasia, The Lion King, Pocahontas). They have only abandoned the gimmicky sides of it (Sleeping Beauty).

If you're a Ma & Pa looking to entertain the younger ones, then you should be happy you get 2 movies in the price of 1 and the edition with the most features (which, if you're a Ma & Pa, you probably wouldn't care for anyway)

Those are some small files sizes, Lady and the Tramp has a much higher bitrate for both the video and audio than Pocahontas, with so much space left over on the disc I wonder why they didn't bother using it.

True, but what's that got to do with anything?

I was just using it as an example of another Disney animated release which is a stand alone title that is actually shorter but has a much higher bitrate.

Putting 2 films on a disc is easy enough but the bit rate will always suffer, would be interesting to see if the stand alone release of Pocahontas has a higher bit rate.

I have a copy, but I have no idea how to see bitrate.
Anyone else who can help out?

Easiest method is to put it in your PC and run it through BDInfo but this of course requires a BD drive in your PC and software to remove the encryption.

I will check my disc out tonight.

That's the standalone released I used as an example. I don't think Disney has used different bitrates/transfers in the Blu-ray era. We all get the same. And Disney USUALLY uses bitrate between 22-25Mbps, sometimes even on Diamond titles

Beauty and the Beast - 24057 kbps
Sleeping Beauty - 24059 kbps
Pinocchio - 28421 kbps
Bambi - 23959 kbps

You need Blu-ray drive on your PC. Some players have Mbit/s counter, but it's useless if you are going to count the average

Sorry if somebody already replied to you, but don't expect Peter Pan until probably spring 2014. They are going in order off of the Platinum Editions, and TLM was released before Peter Pan. So Aladdin will be spring 2013, The Little Mermaid will be Fall 2013 (sorry, excited about that one!), and Peter Pan will probably be spring.
