^ That's basically how my PS3 is setup and I cannot hear it while playing games or while watching BDs.

UPDATE (fixed it): Changed my PS3's Blu-ray internet connection from "Allow" to "Confirm". No trouble accessing bd-live functions now. Hmmmm.

It's an extremely tough call.
You can hear it in quiet/silent scenes. But if it's far away from you, then it won't matter. So it depends on how close you are to it.

Question Need advice PS3 / samsung series 7 lcd / sony STRDG720

Here is my quandry, hope you guys can shed some light

I am looking to buy the following:

The just released PS3 (on sept 4)

Samsung LN40A750 lcd w 120Hz

Sony STRDG720 7.1 Audio Video Receiver

and HDMI cables..

I plan on connecting the ps3 to the sony receiver then to the samsung lcd.

I am going to connect a bose system to the sony AVR. Using the receivers ability to be to switch hdmi rather than just pass trough.

Question is.. to take advantage of blu ray .. what hdmi cables should I get?

Monsters website says that I should get a hdmi cable that can accept higher bit rates up to 120 hz.. but does the newest ps3 blu-ray model output at 120 hz for movies?

The sony that I chose.. the only reason I chose it was that I could pass the audio _ video thru one cable link.. ps3 to sony receiver then to samsung lcd.. if the blu ray can output to 120 mhz will the sony receiver allow that to go thru? I want the receiver so that I can connect my bose system to it.

Thanks for any clues
-Luis

luis, just go to www.monoprice.com and buy the 1.3a HDMI cables that they have. They come in a wide variety of colors too!

Default Ps3 Blu-ray Rules!!!!!

I just picked up the PS3 to replace my Sharp player. This thing looks and sounds much better than the Sharp Aquos. I am so happy right now. I can finally watch my movies with no interference!!!!!

Sony should make a USB LCD add-on so that it can be the LCD display that standalone players have. But make it cheap - something like US$20 - that can be adjusted for brightness and shows all the info you need to see. Unlikely that they'll do it though because that will pick away the advantage of getting a standalone player from Sony.

Where's FEP whatever to b*tch about PS3 fan boys? Seems to be one of his favorite hobbies on the site.

Personally, I can't understand why anyone on a normal budget would pick up anything but the PS3 for a Blu-Ray player. Beyond a few (very few, maybe 5 total) random freezes during various tasks (maybe once with Blu-Ray), I've never had any issues with the PS3 playing any disc I've put in.

I also have the PS3 and I'm enjoying it a lot. Although... I'm beginning to switch away from a whole shitload of discs for DVD's that are filling up my cabinets and I'm thinking of switching to the Sony HES-V1000 which has a 500 GB harddrive so that I can save a fair amount of my movies on it and it also has a 200-disc Blu-Ray/DVD/CD changer inside it. It looks really good... but I'm not too sure yet.

Thanks for that link! I'm planning on replacing my Samsung 1200 with a PS3 and the link answered a bunch of questions I couldn't find answers to in the myriad of posts on the PS3.

as a side note unless I am mistaken the whole 120hz deal is done by the TV ITSELF and not sent out by the blu ray player. That being said there is no need to have a cable to carry "120hz" which is basically monster throwing a crock of $%&# in our faces
