I have Halloween II and Halloween III pre-ordered thru Amazon but I'm hoping tomorrow night at midnight my local Best Buy will allow me to use in-store pickup for Halloween and Halloween II 4Ks.
If I'm able to, I'll just cancel my Amazon order for HII.

Amazon is trying my patience lately.

They just aren't very good when it comes to new releases.

If I had to decide, I think I'd get the Halloween movies first. Because the Universal Monsters are a major studio release, they might be easier to get later. Just my guess. But if you really want to watch one first, get the one you want to watch now.

Over in General Chat, there are threads just for discussion about personal experiences. Some such as, vent your anger, express your happiness, what's on your mind, etc. I saw y2jman posting over there already. It's a place to talk about more of these off-topic and personal things.

You don’t need to apologize, we all do our fair share of derailing on these forums lol. I think some of us were quick to judge (myself included) and for that I’m sorry. It’s been a tough year and a half for a lot of us. Glad to hear you’re at least pulling through. Movies can be a bit of a refreshing escape from reality and they have certainly helped me get through some not-so-pleasant times.

That being said, I’m probably going to get the Universal Monsters UHDs as well. Given Universal’s track record with 4K, I think there’s a pretty good chance these will look great also, and better than the blu-rays. I’m probably most excited to check out The Invisible Man. Was the first classic monster film I saw as a kid.

When are people going to start comparing this UHD to the area it was filmed in for accuracy like the original 4K remastered BD thread

My feeling is Shout may not have the Halloween license forever. So I'd buy those first, so you don't end up waiting too long until they stop making them. But Universal will always be able to release their monster movies. And some people think Universal will release them individually in another year or so, so you may not have to buy all four together then.

And boy oh boy Little Rascal they're SHARP LOOKING in 4K! The colors are a bit more accurate, but not by much IMHO though. 5-10% Not impressed enough to buy it no matter the price. I'll stick with The Lionsgate 4K+2K disc combo that I only paid 7.99+ tax for 3 years back.

The vast majority of people who actually have this release have said it was stellar, the color is right, the picture is gorgeous - then one guy posts a couple of screenshots that don't even show the DolbyVision version, and suddenly like some virus, folks jump out of the woodwork and have determined this is some fly by night crap release. And all this "geometry" nonsense? Based on one site's dubious screenshots - nothing anyone here who actually has the disc has said.

It's kind of unbelievable how this forum works. Well, actually it's not - this is how social media is unfortunately - it's just that this site wasn't always this way, it's just sad that this is how it works here now, too. Might as well just "discuss" things on Facebook, same of late.
It's a good thing Shout has some passive-aggressive keyboard warriors defending them against those who have differing opinions about this release. It's not like this is a technical forum where people come specifically to discuss the technical merits of the releases.

We should all just rain praise upon this release regardless of actual technical merits.

For the record, based on what I'm seeing so far from caps, I think the color is far better on this release. So is the detail. It's overall far better than the previous UHD. So don't label me a hater. That doesn't mean people don't have a right to discuss the technical failings, like poor compression and subpar mono. That's what this forum is for. It's not imdb or moviechat. It's a site to discuss video releases, and that includes the audio/video presentation, along with everything else related to the release. I think it's ridiculous that some people in here get personally offended just because others dare to share a differing opinion.

Of course some take it too far. That's how the internet works. But anyone has the right to discuss this release and share their opinions on it, especially when this film has had such a troubled release history.

Also, I hate social media, I'm not on Facebook, I never joined imdb due to all the trolls, and I've been on this site for a long time; it's always been this way - people discussing discs.

It's not stretched; it is at it's proper ratio...which by the way 2.39:1 is ever so noticeably slightly wider than 2.35:1 (and that's a good thing!)

Just by it's very nature, the original camera negative will have the least amount of grain when compared to a film copy of the original negative. The copy not only records the grain from the original negative, but the film used to make that copy has it's own grain structure...in other words that process alone creates the effect of even more grain.

A digital copy of the original camera negative (if done correctly) adds no additional noise or grain for that matter. The digital copy in the end is like watching the negative; which has the least amount of noise, distortion and grain.

The IP print which (I think) the LG disc was made from will of course have more apparent grain.

I think Shout is going to hold onto the Halloween distribution for dear life. They know it is a bread and butter franchise and will try everything in their will to keep it with them. Anchor Bay had it for 15+ years so if Shout could equal that we should see a healthy number of reissues to go along with it.
