Paying $19 bucks for a full family to see a new movie is a steal, and total depression level pricing. Had they released this in the theater under the new social distancing rules and 50% max attendance at movie theater prices it wouldn't have made jack shit. Thats why AMC is crazy they will have to do simultaneous releases until restrictions are lifted if they expect movie studios to make money. I dont even know if amc will make enough to pay rent and staff their ****ing workers at 50% capacity, we know damn well movie studios cant make profits with that limited capacity and it being their only outlet to reach consumers

Trolls is one movie, not nine as per the roster of SW UHDs that has just been released (eps 1-7, 9, and Rogue One) alongside the very expensive boxset. But you knew that.

And oh look, the UHD of Rise of Skywalker is currently #4 in movies and TV and #2 overall for Blu-ray on amazon.com, as well as being "temporarily out of stock" because they've shifted so many units, obvs.

Point being that a newer movie, as per your Troll, will always sell in greater units than catalogue stuff, even at a time like this and even with the Star Wars name on it. Amazing, huh? But when it comes to picking up another EIGHT movies to go with it that people will probably have on DVD or Blu already then it doesn't matter the franchise or how "reference" the discs, the scale of that purchase will give people pause at the best of times, never mind now. Even if they were $15 apiece that's still $120 for all eight, on top of whatever someone has paid for Rise.

Rise of Skywalker is a totally different case...but you knew that …it's the newest SW movie that was recently released on home video...of course it's going to be a Top Seller...that was a weak argument Geoff sorry...

So you can refer to a new movie selling like gangbusters to prove your point but I can't? That people - especially families with kids to entertain - are still finding money for such frivolities isn't in doubt, what they're not going to do is spend hundreds of dollars on buying the rest of the SW UHDs right now.

wait, did you just say that a movie like Trolls was always going to sell better then an older SW movie like the OT trilogy?...really?...lol...Trolls???...we're talking about Trolls World Tour here...not Toy Story or Avengers or Tenet...I think you need to quit while you're behind Geoff

wait, let's take a look at the Amazon link you provided...where exactly are any of the other SW movies outside of Rise of Skywalker on that list...and we're not just talking about the box-set but the individual releases...

Newer single releases will usually trump catalogue stuff for units shifted, especially the bigger catalogue boxsets, and popular kids movies are always good sellers, it's the nature of the beast and always has been. (Hell, Trolls 2 could end up making Dreamworks more money than Onward does for Pixar, there's a thought.) So yeah, that's why Avatar and Frozen and Despicable Me 2 are the top selling Blu-rays of all-time in the US, while the previous Star Wars set is down in 21st place, beaten by such cinematic luminaries as Deadpool and Minions.

I've been referring to the individual releases repeatedly. Just because they're available on their own still doesn't mean people will rush out to buy them, the whole point of the 'trilogy' and 'saga' thing is to have all the movies. You're clearly not listening to a word I'm saying, not that I should be surprised.

really?...just because one of the most popular franchises of all time is now available in the 4K format means that no one is going to be in a rush to buy them?...people easily have the option to buy 1 of the 7 or maybe 2 out of 7 but they are not even doing that in large numbers (I say 7 because Last Jedi 4K and RoS are different cases)...I guess when Jaws comes out in a few weeks no one will be in a rush then either

I tell you what, I'll be glad to finally discuss the UHDs themselves rather than going around in circles like this

Yes I apologize for the top 3 which are DVD Bootlegs of the LD ports, but at the time I actually didn't realize that's what they were. If it makes you feel any better I traded a set of the Faces Laserdiscs for them

for Disney to drop prices so quickly shows that sales are a Major (with a capital M) disappointment...and $23.99 is still not low enough to get people to buy this in masse...under $15 each would be a good start...if these movies had reference grade transfers it would be worth more but as is other then SW diehards it's not worth the price
A lot of stuff just got discounted, even from Disney.
BestBuy has Disney live action Cinerderalla 4k steelbook for $10 today.
Disney BP steel is $14 today and so is JungleBook steel.
Disney Avengers 4 disc 4k set is over $50 off today.
Disney Lion King 2019 steelbook 4k $14 today.

Part 3 -- labels ongoing. In my defense most of these items I bought in the mid 2000's when people were getting rid of LDs cheap. No way I would have bought them at LD prices new

[Show spoiler]

Top Left --
Pan/Scan Aspect Ratio
1982 20th Century Fox 1st release of Star Wars
2nd Vertical row -- 1983 CSB/Fox re-release of Star Wars, 1984 release ESB, 1986 Return of the Jedi in CLV Format
3rd Vertical Row -- 1985 Star Wars and ESB CAV format. As far as I'm aware RotJ never had a full CAV/P-S US release to match
4th Vertical Row -- 1992 release SW/ESB/RotJ CLV Format
IMG_1511.jpg

Top Row -- 1st US release in Letterbox Format
1992 (Fox Video) Star Wars (there is a 1989 CBS/FOX release that I no longer have for some reason).
1989 (CBS/FOX) Empire Strikes Back,
1990 (CBS/FOX) Return of the Jedi

Second Row -- 1st Japanese Releases of the original in Letterbox format
1986 (Christmas Day) Star Wars,
1987 Empire Strikes Back,
1987 Return of the Jedi
IMG_1512.jpg

1st Row 1995 Letterbox, Remastered Editions. SW, ESB, and RotJ
2nd Row 2000 Japanese release The Phantom Menace, 1990 US release The Ewok Adventure
IMG_1513.jpg

1st Row -
1993 US Definitive Edition,
1995 Japanese Definitive Edition Re-release that replaced the George Lucas Book with the 2 disc The Making of Trilogy

2nd Row -
1997 US Special Edition Trilogy,
2000 Japanese Special Edition Trilogy,
1997 Singapore release of Empire Strikes Back: Special Edition. I'm not entirely sure how I ended up with this one, either it was part of a package deal or I just thought the cover was interesting and it was cheap
