Might be the classic trilogy on 4k. Might be A New Hope 4k, blu ray and bonus disc. Hopefully will be a series of 3 disc releases for each film.
It has its own dedicated thread in the steelbook section, it’s for A New Hope and pre-orders go live at 9am tomorrow for red carpet members and apparently Episodes 1-9 will follow as well as Solo and Rogue One.

Is everyone watching the OT in 4K in black and white? How are you guys dealing with the missing colors?

So this month I’ve decided to go through every special feature for every movie (minus the commentaries... right away, anyway) for every release. I only just got done with the Phantom Menace DVD, but I’m looking forward to doing the rest.

It’s a shame that they didn’t include ALL past material with the 4K release. Hell, that’s something they should have done for the box set to entice people to buy it. If they had discs with all DVD and Blu-ray features, as well as brand new content, and archival material that never made it to disc... and everything was properly restored or at least ported in proper aspect ratios, and it was box set-exclusive, I’d have eaten that up in a heartbeat lol.

One omission from The Phantom Menace that always baffled me was when Sebulba is announced at the beginning of the Podrace and it cuts to Watto yelling “Sebulba!”. The only reason that stuck out to me is because, for whatever reason, my sister and I always thought that was funny, so I definitely noticed its absence from the DVD to now. But! I’m glad to see that it made it onto the 4K bonus Blu-ray disc as an extra.

I guess Struzan was going more for a "trilogy" approach to these posters, movie be damned. ESB has an image of Emperor Palpatine from ROTJ. ROTJ has Vader and Luke fighting from ESB.

What if all of them go live tomorrow? I hope so.

One might call it... a new hope.

Thanks a lot
I imported the UK set to Ireland, Audio options for I, II, III, IV, V & VI are:

English Dolby Atmos

English 2.0 Descriptive Audio

French 7.1 Dolby Digital Plus

German 7.1 Dolby Digital Plus

Italian 5.1 DTS Digital Surround

For the sequel trilogy, all of the above except the Italian is now 7.1 too.

I have this in our home office even though I've grown out of the Special Editions. Bought this back in 1998 from one of those poster stores that used to be in all the malls.

The japanese release of the box set (from Amazon japan). 1080p blurays are not included - just the UHD and the bonus discs.
The book contains the same art from the US/UK book style disc holder but less thicker paper stock.

Very nice. I like how each film and extra disc are placed in the same disc holder.

I'm really glad the entire Pixar and MCU back catalog is on UHD already. Same with Star Wars. I am FOUR copies of 'ATTACK OF THE CLONES' and 'A NEW HOPE' in and still not with a good clean 4K disc free of circumferential scratches. This is unacceptable. Disney's home video choices for either case selection or disc replication are shit. 4 of 9 were good from the start, 2 were good after one exchange, one (TROS) has scratches on my THIRD copy but might? not have issues (anyone with experience with scratches that aren't circumferential but easily visible?). DO I NEED TO JUST FIND A SCRATCHED 4K DISC THAT DOES NOT HAVE PLAYBACK ISSUES AND "SETTLE"?

Watched the 4K disc of FORCE AWAKENS for the second time in the last two weeks on my slowwww but super enjoyable journey through this Saga box. Man oh man, it really pops. My award for the "most improved STAR WARS sequence in HDR" is the Rey/Kylo snowy-forest lightsaber battle, at the end. Wow-zers, it's jaw-dropping. And yes, I'm the dude watching these 4K discs on a 1080p SDR projector, but I do a pretty decent conversion and even have a gamma trick which creates a poor-man's "HDR simulation/approximation"... so I may not be seeing what YOU're seeing on a true 4K HDR display, but I'm seeing enough to know that it friggin' POPS. Really love it. That saber duel has been elevated to my "third favorite duel" of the whole saga, after Maul/Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan in PHANTOM MENACE and Luke/Vader in EMPIRE.

Other thoughts:
--I still love the whole rathtar sequence. I know that's not a popular opinion but I really dig it. It's nice to see some Lawrence-Kasdan-penned Han/Chewie shenanigans that don't have to do with the fight against the Empire/First Order. Reminds me of the old Marvel comics from 1977 - 1983.
--Nice to watch the Han/Rey interactions now, after RISE OF SKYWALKER, without trying to read into them and figure out if Han already knows her
--I still dislike how they've changed the iconic blaster noises; they certainly don't pack the sonic punch they used to in STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Really anemic pew-pew-pews now... except for Han's trademark pistol, which they kept the same, and about three stormtrooper blasts when they first encounter Rey outside of Maz's.
--Apart from the much-talked-about problem of Leia not hugging Chewie at the end, it's very strange that Poe doesn't ever meet Rey in the aftermath of the Starkiller Base adventure, on screen or off. The whole Resistance base is out there waving goodbye as the Millennium Falcon lifts off... and yet Poe never even got the chance to say "Hello" to Rey before meeting her at the end of LAST JEDI?? Weird, but whatever.
--The orange dot is very odd, but doesn't bug me enough to bug me, if that makes any sense. Not gonna sweat it. It's a very short shot, and the dot isn't where my eye is naturally looking. I am dying to know how it happened, though. I wonder if that was some kind of editorial marker, to note a shot that was altered in some way for this release -- but I don't see any difference other than the red dot itself.

Anyhoo... great fun. Can't wait to move on to THE LAST JEDI, which is my third favorite Episode after STAR WARS and EMPIRE... and tied with ROGUE ONE in my rankings of ALL the live action SW flicks. Very excited to see it again!
