I been there, my first university moved advisors on me three times before I finally got settled on one who could get inside my mind and figure out what I was trying to do.

Lots of things and nothing specific on my mind. I've felt suddenly very anxious this summer in various situations, more than usual. Dry mouth, nausea, stuff like that. This is not new, as I've generally always been a bit of an anxious person, notably with new experiences and specifically "new" social situations. I won't try to diagnose myself here, but I'd likely fit the description of someone with mild general anxiety or mild social anxiety, in that I can go out and generally do the things I need to be self sufficient (shopping, dealing with the bank, working etc,.) , but sometimes I'll avoid going the extra mile to do anything more (going out with friends or dates). I've talked to doctors about it but I've always been just on the milder side to not be recommended drugs, only various forms of CBT-ish techniques (and I would only want them as a complete last resort anyway, definitely not to treat mild anxiety).
Funny thing is I've used the anxiety as part-adrenaline too. I've done a bunch of short 2-3 day bursts of travelling around my part of the country this summer by myself. Hell yeah that probably even makes me more anxious at times. But I gotta admit, it's been fun too. I'd never actually gone and tried to do some solo travelling seriously before. Went to a bunch of different places and tourist attractions I'd never explored before. Anxiety is a weird thing. I guess it's partly a disorder in that it has a more debilitating day to day effect on some people than others, but I'd always wondered if it's not also a part of you that's trying to tell you something you've ignored too. I feel like I'm pretty honest with myself internally, but at the same time I'm usually not really emotionally demonstrative either. I wonder if the sudden desire to go travel out of my comfort zone is partly my anxiety telling me something I've unconsciously ignored. ![]() Anyway, I recommend solo travelling sometimes. You don't always need someone with you to travel. Though from a practical standpoint it's better to go with someone if you're going to some really foreign country with a completely different language and culture. But if you're travelling within more familiar cultures, absolutely solo travelling can have its perks too. Last edited by llj; 09-01-2016 at 06:00 PM. |

Having watched the first two seasons of the Netflix Daredevil show, I find myself going over the issues it raised pertaining to morality and justice. When man and his institutions fail to - or can never - deliver justice through legal means, should it be - from a purely moral perspective - acceptable to pursue justice outside of conventional means. It'll result in some inevitable legal repercussions, but does an individual have the moral right to go to those lengths, or should a person just take it on the chin and move on?
No, don't worry, I'm not planning on anything dodgy. ![]() |

In trying to procure an iTunes collection of Disney films by the cheapest means possible, I took a gamble on eBay last night with the Diamond Edition of Lady & the Tramp with mint slip in the hopes the code is still intact. The code sheet was briefly seen and the user said in the listing that unless his adult son yanked the code a few years ago, it should be valid. It was $18 Buy it Now, which is considerably less than some folks ask for in the DMR trading thread on this site. I guess I'll see if this paid off. If not, I'll just resell the set.

There's a Best Buy down the road from my college and I'm extremely tempted to go. But I also have zero self control and I know I'll probably end up buying a bunch of movies. There are no Best Buy's anywhere near my hometown so I've always wanted to go to one.
I have all my books and just went to the grocery last night.....maybe one or two or ten won't hurt.... |

While cleaning near The Movie Room, I see that someone had placed their glass, beercan, whatever, on my R/F speaker.
Who the eff does that? The Studio Series isn't made any more and if something had happened, I'd be SOL. Speaking of anger, I wonder how pissed my wife will be when she know's I've tied into her wine? Hopefully she understands that I've been cleaning and didn't wanna bolt to the beerstore while in cleaning-mode. [Show spoiler]

My car key shell broke so I went to a nearby dealership to get a new one. He wanted to charge me full price to cut a new key, claiming such and such was broken. He was trying to gouge me, right? I see a bunch of third party key shells online for cheap where all you do is put in the key and the remote and close it.

There may me a chip in the housing. If it breaks, then yes, you need to pay the outrageous price to get an alternate and have it set to the code to allow the engine to start. |

When clicking on trending news stories on Facebook, I've noticed that on many occasions unrelated people will have posted the exact same comment about it. Not just a sentence, but entire paragraphs. Is this something they're being told to do? Or are they just lazy plagiarists?

Wondering what's up with my PayPal today.
I sold two Digital Copies on here. I didn't get no emails saying I got money. But on the PayPal site it says I received money and the transaction was complete. But yet it wasn't added to my total on my PayPal though. So should I wait a day or so and see what happens Or contract them right away? |

I've been living in Southern California for ten years now, and I'm tired of living here. It's too crowded and too expensive. I've been thinking about moving for a while now. Like maybe a couple years now. But whenever I think about a place to move to, I talk myself out of that city/state.
I know that no place is perfect, but I want someplace that suits me better than here, and I'd like a house for my dogs to play in the backyard. California's way too expensive, so I want to find a place to move to soon. I've considered Oregon, Arizona and Texas mostly. I have family in Arizona (in fact, a cousin just moved there this week), so I'm leaning towards there. Texas has Austin, though, and that seems like a great place for a movie lover (it's gotten pretty expensive, though). I like that Oregon has no sales tax. Heh Lots for me to keep thinking about... |
