A limited edition of 3000 units, eh? Where IS the outcry? Wonder where they got the idea? I don't know, if this were announced by the people who created this model one knows exactly what the response would have been. I think it is vastly unfair to Arrow to not give them the same exact treatment

Stray Cat Rock is limited to 2000; Phibes is limited to 3000. While we're at it, the Boro box is limited to 1000.

Big differences are these:
  • Not every title is limited, unlike TT
  • Some of Arrow's choices are commercially more risky unlike titles like Christine and The Blob
  • Arrow tends to have more special features
  • Arrow's titles are more reasonably priced than TT's
  • More and more, it's likely you'll see a TT title in another territory for a more reasonable price

Plus in the case of some of Arrow's limited runs it seems to be more to do with a 'deluxe' packaging variant that the actual film itself.

I wouldn't be surprised if TCM 2 and the Phibes films received standard amaray releases once the limited packaging variants sold out.

I have a feeling that the Phibes limited packaging wont last long. Pre-ordered at the Arrow early bird price anyway as this is a set Ive been hoping for since I got a blu-ray player!

Not a pre-order but Arrow's release of Braquo S1 & 2 dropped to £11.75, maybe that's what the poster is referring to? (It's available for £10 on Zavvi anyway.)

It looks like Arrow are trying to clear stock, because it's existence has been erased from the Arrow website in favour of the forthcoming 1-3 boxset.

Mind you, maybe that's what Whitesheik is insinuating? That's the trouble with not spelling things out: people have this annoying tendency to jump to different conclusions.
No, whitesheik is only alluding to Twilight Time.

I'm not sure if you were around for the great TT thread wars, but it was a bummer. A never-ending, indiscriminate, belligerent bummer that he would apparently like to revisit.

Now you can include Brute Force and the Beast as well.

Update - Stray Cat Rock has gone down to £24.80.

Now I'm debating whether to order those from Amazon (once the Remo price drops as well) or wait for an Arrow flash sale to earn some buyer points. The latter (particularly with pre-orders) seems relatively unlikely in the immediate future though.

Do you think Stray Cat Rock would still be in print by the time a flash sale happens?

To have what whitesheik was really saying be true, Arrow would have to limit all future releases to a certain run number, jack up the price on everything x2, only sell their product through a nearly defunct webstore with zero customer service and start ignoring special features/packaging on most releases. I think its safe to say those who got what you were saying Michael, wouldn't have agreed with what he was saying in the first place . It seems to me there is good reason for these specific titles to have a limited print run. Now, if something like The Burbs were limited to a few thousand copies and cost $40 then we'd be getting closer to legitimacy with what whitesheik said. I dislike TT's business more than any other label, and Arrow is hardly anything like them.

They do this a fair bit actually; they always seem to initially list very high pre-order prices, with the price then falling as the release date approaches. The price will usually shoot back up again though after the release date. I've received some sizable pre-order price drops on quite a few titles these last few months from multiple labels, including 88 Films, BFI, Arrow, Artificial Eye, Eureka, Network etc.
