He was going from King of the Pallace where people literally kissed his feet, to a mere wanderer in a dance ball at the end...a mere one among many...no longer royalty, no longer special and no longer anything but a grain of sand on the beach like everyone else. An incredible demonstration of humility in the face of life giving you a big kick in the a@s, and learning to accept the curveballs life throws at you. I can defintely relate! I think anyone can without being royalty, which is why I love the film.
. can't wait to watch this a second time! those screenshots were quite possibly the most gorgeous I've seen on Blu (along with Days of Heaven and the Fall)
Great breakdown! The way you describe it sounds great, but the film's way of telling that story wasn't very interesting to me

Thanks for the insight though, that helped me understand it a little better.

Another fine dramedy with top-notch period reproduction and quality acting. I was quite intrigued and impressed by the settings and production value. It is well-filmed and visually interesting overall.

The film has an okay story with a decent cast of characters. I can’t say it caught my interest the whole time, but it wasn’t totally dull either, and actually had many awesome scenes here and there (I love the shoot-out toward the middle; that one dude was crazy!). The story did have many twists and turns, some surprising and others humorous.

And the music was snazzy too.

4/5 (entertainment: 3.5/5, story: 3.5/5, film: 4.5/5)

Good job Al. I pretty much agree with u here. A pretty good dramedy with a great cast actually. I loved Eddie in this one. Dont remember if this one was on my list and if so it was a bit lower but a good watch regardless. Keep em comin. Got Em!!

One of the best action movies of all time, will probably never get tired of watching it, Moss looked incredible in it too.
I'd rate the Matrix somewhere around a 4.5, but it is indeed one of the best sci-fi action flicks around.

[Show spoiler]So the whole story is the guy makes friends with a little 9 year old girl on the internet after she sends him a painting of one of his photographs and then he gets to know the mother, and her older sister, and even begins a long-distance relationship with the older sister. The sister says she's also a singer, and sends him a song that she recorded, yet he knows he heard it before and looks it up on Youtube and sure enough, he finds the exact same recording. So then he starts to think something fishy is going on here. His documentarian buddies help him investigate and they ultimately go for a visit.
When they get there, they soon learn that while there IS a family with the mother, father, and two daughters, he had been talking with the mother the entire time. She's a crazy delusional who put on this facade and lied about all her family members and what they do. And that's it. Seems like an after school special about internet safety and do you really know who you're talking to on the internet?
Thank you. Its an M. Night twist....LOL

Los Cronocrímenes.,” aka “Time Crimes.”

As Squiddy previously remarked, this film is a bit like “Triangle.” As such, unfortunately, I found most of this film predictable. Right from the start. All these highly intellectual open-to-interpretation films must be spoiling me.

But this film handled the theme of time travel very well; it is a very well-crafted story with extreme attention to detail. I was very happy with the way it played out, for I felt it was very logical. Wouldn’t say the same for the main character though; I felt he was a total dope. But, he was believable and well-acted.

The film had my attention the whole way through. It is pretty well-filmed. It doesn’t look like it has (or even needs) a high production value, but the film still looks well-made.

4/5 (entertainment: 4/5, story: 4.5/5, film: 4/5)
Harlem Nights is a Classic!!!

Imma have to check out this Time Crimes.

Awesome! I was disappointed with Gone Baby Gone, but Ben really delivered with this one.
I loved it!!! I seriously cant make up my mind about which is better "Heat" or "The Town".

I know "Heat" is a classic and has lived up to its name, in addition you can see how "Heat" had a big influence on "The Town" but i thought it was amazing. Heat still has the best shootout IMO.

I found a particular aspect of the film to be hilarious. Its not the films fault at all though. We spent SO much time in the Triangle thread referring to Jess as
[Show spoiler]Good Jess, or Jess#1 etc
that I was cracking up when Hector was referring to the other versions of
[Show spoiler]himself and would call them Hector #2 and Hector # 3.

I couldnt help but giggle.

One of the top 3 best movies I've seen so far in 2010, and a 100% guaranteed Best Picture nominee, I can't remember the last time I saw a movie that was so perfectly cast from head to toe, a perfect blend of action too. Gone Baby Gone was a very good movie, but The Town is Ben Affleck's first great film as a director, hopefully many more to come.

Seriously this year has been Amazing for entertaining movies. Inception, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, The Town, Machete!!

Imo, Heat is by far the better film, but The Town is definitely awesome. Can't wait for this to come out on blu!

This is what I dont understand Foggmiester. I totally cared about those little dudes right from the start. They had very real personalities and good development as the movie advanced. I'd even say a couple of the characters were complex. And I thought there was a good reason to feel afraid of the danger.....those beasts were hard core and relentless.

Who knows.

9 is one of the best animated movies I've ever seen not by Pixar, I would almost put it at the same level as How to Train Your Dragon. Excellent characters each with their own unique traits and personalities, a somber post-apocalyptic world, nice color levels, etc. Also the creators had the guts to wipe out humanity and did a good job of it, very few film-makers will do something like that. Still shocked it got as little recognition award wise as it did, seems like critics liked it though.

Never understood why this sequel is so hated, always thought it surpassed the original as we gained more characters and also expanded both the Matrix and the real world.
