And I don't know if they got more stock or I looked at the wrong listing, but the 5th Element 4k steelbook is still available for $9.99 + shipping (no store pickup): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/the-fif...?skuId=5899205 I did a search on bestbuy.com for "steelbook 4k blu-ray" and it showed up in the list. I was able to cancel the Amazon order. Thanks!! |

This was a fantastic UHD IMO. Don't let the age deceive you.

Got a smaller (40") Samsung 4K refurbished through Walmart for $253 shipped and with my state taxes about 3 months ago? I'd collected a few titles in 4K, so I was "forward" compatible, and I've enjoyed getting the Avengers trilogy, Harry Potter, and a few other films in 4K as sales and my insanity permit.
Like others here, I've got multiple copies of Fifth Element, from the original Blu-Ray that they eventually upgraded for free if you requested the replacement disc, to the Zavvi Steelbook with the "poster" cover, etc. That said, upon my purchase of a high-end 2017 Pioneer soundbar with Atmos functionality, I wasn't looking to upgrade from the blu-ray copies. Then today I saw not only is a 4K version available, but it and the last Blu-Ray releases have Atmos. That pretty well put it over the top for me, but it seems the movie has been as low as $9.99 at Fry's and maybe elsewhere... though I don't see it for that price anywhere today. So you tell me. Do I wait and save a few more bucks? Is $15 probably the best we'll see short of an "in-store" only Black Friday special? I JUST found out Walmart had a Lenovo VR Star Wars game on sale for $99, and though I tried to ignore it... my sci-fi geek won out and I placed an order. So if I can wait and save a few bucks, or get Fifth Element for Christmas... that might not be a bad idea. |

I know it’s popular to hate on Terminator 2 around here, but The Fifth Element is the worst looking UHD in my opinion. Whatever source Sony has been using for this movie for years now, belongs in the dumpster. Looks like HDCAM SR pulled out from quick sand. Gaumont’s Blu-ray is superior in every way, I can’t wait for their UHD.

The level that it’s processed and sharpened to has to be seen to be believed. It no longer resembles film. And it seems like all Sony releases stem from whatever this source is. They can’t be scanning real actual analog film, can they? Calling on Geoff for any info on the source elements. |

It's like the one Sony title not from the OCN, and it still kills terminator 2 judgement clay

6290 - So not a top of the line unit, but I've got credit debt I've been working on for a while, and it's not paid off... but I'm getting there. I'd been using a Sony (Playstation) 24" 3D LCD display to play F1 2017 with my PS4 and a Playseats racing chair I bought YEARS ago off Amazon on sale for $200. Well, the Sony 24" displays were known to have poor backlight health, and while mine didn't *die* per se, it eventually would go black for 5-10 seconds at a time while I was gaming. And this makes driving VERY difficult. So I bought the 40" Samsung, and it's been a pretty great set. I've followed some of the online sites to try and get the settings right (I don't have anything to "configure" the picture with), and for the price... no complaining. ![]() I've longed to have the money for a TCL 6-series 55", or something a LITTLE bigger to replace one of my other 1080p LCD sets, but until the bills are paid... either from a better paying job, or just working my a$$ off and getting caught up... it is what it is. |

I’ll take it over the coarse sandpaper Sony is trying to pass off as 4K UHD. Sony’s image looks like putting a screen door in front of the TV.
