I did briefly try to think about how HDR presentations could ever be conveyed via screenshots and websites and this conversation is a good example of why I gave up after roughly seven seconds

Unless.... no, no. Hmmm, what if I had...no.

Unless you are using a 4K monitor with HDR when looking at UHD captures or taking them for that matter is pointless.

Watching this disc now and I’m completely blown away. The detail level is unreal... HDR... absolutely perfect. I’m speechless.

Because of my tastes and how iffy the BD always looked it might seriously be my fave catalog UHD.

Hmmm. I've resisted buying a UHD that I already have on BD, so far. But I've always liked Starship Troopers, eye candy and funny as hell. Might have to reconsider things . . .

You should, nay, must! reconsider things. Resist no longer! If you upgrade only one title, make it Starship Troopers.....and also Leon. And Groundhog Day.....and A Few Good Men. But that's it! If you only upgrade four titles, get those! And Unforgiven... and Ghostbusters.

Arguably the two finest catalog titles and prime examples of how this format is such a huge step up from BDs.

Yeah, I'm giving this one a whirl right now, and it's a beauty. The HDR is nicely balanced and it looks exceptionally filmic. So much fine detail in every shot. I'm trying to finish a Uni assignment but my eyes keep drifting to the screen to marvel at the beauty of this thing.

Hard to imagine this movie looking better. Grain haters will continue to hate this one, but they can just crank up the noise reduction setting on their TV while the rest of us enjoy this gorgeous 4K image, nicely-resolved grain and all.

My copy of this should be arriving any day now, very much looking forward to checking it out after all the praise it’s had on here.
Haven’t owned a copy of it since the vhs version for some unknown reason.

Just popped this in to check out some scenes in the Technicolor mode and sweeeet baby Jesus I’m in love all over again. Razor sharp and the grain is even more lovely. The extra nits really take things to the next level. Can’t wait to sit down and watch in its entirety. Hopefully this weekend.

Just got my copy of this today and finished viewing it tonight. Wow! Fantastic presentation. The grain in this is wonderful, allowing for so much extra detail. It's quite jaw dropping at times. I'm really impressed. There were only about 2 to 3 brief scenes early on that were a little noisy, but the rest, indoor or outdoor, looked absolutely superb. This is hands down my favourite Sony UHD, or, hell, maybe even just my favourite UHD so far.

When the Starship Troopers 4K UHD thread gets a bump, it's only for one reason...... Praise.

Now, if only Sony would give us Battle: Los Angeles and After Earth this year, for some demo-worthy 4K. Throw in Godzilla too.
