Nice!

I bought the PDK-TS23, which is a heavy stand, non glossy.

No warranty was purchased as I could get one for cheaper with the same coverage and not have to deal with Abe's 'shadiness'.

I flip flop back and forth on how confident I am about getting it resolved in my favor about this stuff because of the $ involved. Big sticker on the box saying not to sign unless you've completely inspected the set and signing it resolves the shipping company of all damages. Well, I signed it under the direction of Abe's CS rep, because he was going to send out that Pio rep to figure what was wrong with it. Not more than 2 minutes after signing was I able to take my time and look over the set (gave up on working with the power situation), when I discovered the cracks. Called Abe's back and they said to send photo's they'd get a claim going. Well that's good and all, but I signed the ticket which might resolve them of any liability. The driver was there and saw and heard the buzzing sound and the inability of the set to turn on, which might count in lieu of a notation on the delivery ticket. I'm thinking maybe the Pio rep could come out and say it is a bad set and then I'd get credit that way...Who knows. It's possible no one will pick up the pieces, and I'll get burned. I sure hope not though. I'm just going to box it up and not think about it for a bit.

Hey all, just thought I'd chime in here with my Pioneer purchase story.

I bought my Pioneer PRO-141FD at East Hamilton Radio in Hamilton, Ontario... I got the TV set for $4606, a BUSH Furniture stand for $580, and the BUSH pedastal mount that attaches to the TV stand for $200. When I got everything home (I live in Oshawa, travelled with the 141 lying face up in a van for the 90 minute ride ) I set up the stand and attached the mount. Then when it came time to attach the TV to the mount, it wouldn't fit! The mount was too short, and the TV was too wide for it. So I called up EHR and they told me to bring in the mount, not the stand, and they'll switch it for the Pioneer pedastal.
So that weekend I did just that and no questions asked, he sold me the $500 pedastal for the same price as the mount! $200
Now everything is set up and working properly. TV is fine despite the flat transportation method... still working on the first 100 or so hours break-in.

Still have to post pictures, but just thought I got a pretty good deal. That monitor sells for $5700 regular, and the pedastal for $500. I got them both for $4800

I transported my TV this way from St. Catherines to Toronto ... mine is only the PRO-101FD (couldnt justify the extra $2000 for the 10" upgrade ). That was the most nervous I have ever been driving in a long time, but it arrived unharmed!

ya I hear ya man.... I tried not to think about it and keep my mind away! lol... it was like paranoia.... but luckily, the van has some great shocks, so it was a smooth ride for 90+ minutes.

Well, good news!

No one has directly contacted me regarding the damaged set, however I just got a shipment email from Icat (their logistics carrier) and they just received a 90lb package which will be sent here!

Wheew....HUGE possible craptacular dilemma avoided. I'm not out of the woods yet, but at least there is hope!

Oh my god dude! it sounds like you may have lucked out with this cluster F@@k Good for you because I have searched around and heard some terrible things about Abe's and their return policy. It sounds like you have a replacement set on it's way

Another victim of a cracked 500M, huh? Man, I hope it all works out for you.

I've been waiting for VE to send my deposit back before I can scoop up my baby. This is exactly why I canceled in the first place. Damn carriers!!! I'm going to make our "local" store unpack it and plug it in before I leave. It's about 2 1/2 hours from home and I'd hate to take another trip back up there for something that could be avoided in the first place. Who knows what could have happened to them between the Pioneer dock and the retailers. Some of these panels could possibly be damaged before the retailers send them out, unless of course, they inspect them prior to shipping....which I doubt.

New member and new 6090 owner. Had a torrid time getting to the point where I ended up with a 6090. I'm a compulsive...er...something or other and I could just not settle on a TV (or PJ for that matter) that I was happy with.

After a long journey I've now ended up with a 6090 (not sure what the US equivalent is sorry). It is and does feel smaller than the PJ I was using but it almost offers the best of all worlds and I'm very very happy with it.

I'm new to plasma's though and have become a bit bogged down with all of the talk of "breaking in" on the AV and AVS Forums. I've been running 16:9 content mostly since I got it with the odd game and what not thrown in.

I was wondering what experiences people here have had (or not!!) with breaking their plasma in?

Please just watch and enjoy...too much is said about the "break-in" on those forums. First and foremost break-in shouldn't be thought of as a first line defense of burn-in. This is a myth. You would seriously have to be abuse your set to have any burn-in (and don't confuse this with temporary image retention). Read this (from 2005, yes 4 years ago!): http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...evision+Market and the IDC whitepaper:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pi...0-%20FINAL.pdf

The only reason to run the so-called slides for the 150 hrs is so that the phosphors can age quickly in order to get the set calibrated ASAP. If you are not going to have it calibrated right away just watch the set with varying content and it will break-in itself. The D-nice procedure would also require this to try and get exactly what he had done on the calibrated sets but to me there is likely set-to-set variation that may make all this effort unnecessary...

Ok cheers.

I'll use it as I naturally would and think about calibration at some point in the future.

Default HDTV Shootout Tonight

Hi guys, I wanted to let everyone know that there is going to be another HDTV Shootout tonight. The Pioneer 500M will be up against a Samsung 8500 LED set, Sony XBR9, Panasonic V10, LG 55LH90, a Toshiba Regza 670u , a Samsung B860 and possibly a Samsung B800. There may be more TVs involved these are just the ones I could remember. Valueelectronics.com will be hosting the shootout around 7pm. I am going to VE's store to watch it in person so I can cheer on my 500M. If you want more info go to valueelectronics.com, they are going to stream the event live again like they did last time, but it will be available on Livestream.com. Good Luck to the Kuro

Thanks sarge. I wish I was going to be around to see the Kuro win. I love how our 2008 Kuro's beat out the latest and greatest from all other makers. They should stop using the Kuro and give the lesser displays a chance.

I know, It's funny that a 2008 model beats these newer sets. This should be pretty interesting to see in person
