That is a pretty badly-drawn, underwhelming poster. Looks like bad fan art.
Hopefully it's strictly an international version and the US one looks nothing like it.

But I get ya. I just thought that 'attached' meant exactly that, worldwide. If something is attached to a movie, its attached to all showings of said movie, not just US showings.
I understand that UK cinemas don't abide by those rules but the only other 'attached' stuff I was aware of, were the TDKR thing ahead of Avengers - which U K got - and MoS ahead of TDKR, again, which the UK got. basically I wasn't aware UK cinemas could essentially ignore these attachments.

Either way, regardless, its unlikely the UK will see any future Marvel goodies 'attached; ahead of current Marvel movies being shown
In fairness I'm not bothered about a 5 minute preview over getting the film released earlier over here.

+1 on that. You would have thought they would have put more of a effort into it. It looks proper dog s**t!

yeah that key art used on merchandise and stuff was quite mediocre. But at least the actual poster used actual photos and looked decent. Hopefully the actual poster for GOTG will be the same.
They'd be smart to do individual character posters as teasers to help start introducing the public to unfamiliar characters.

Many of you may not want to click the spoiler tab for another week....Some would consider this a Thor related spoiler even though it isn't, exactly,

I'm just curious as to what people think about
[Show spoiler] the mid-credit scene with The Collector? Has me super hyped and I know very little about GotG, but I've gathered he's a good/bad guy, and that the 'stones' he's referring to collecting, go together to make a kind of super-weapon Thano's is either interested in, or uses?
Can anyone enlighten me about the scene at all?

You're pretty much spot-on - this explains it quite well. Basically,
[Show spoiler]the six Infinity Gems, combined with the Infinity Gauntlet, gives Thanos the power to destroy all of existence.

And if you're wondering where that Gauntlet is in the MCU - we've already seen it. So Asgard doesn't simply hold an Infinity Gem... Combined with Loki being in charge and probably eager to please Thanos after the events of The Avengers it should all add up to a hell of an Avengers 3.

Edit: Den of Geek have a very helpful guide to it here, which may be better than the above.

Here's what i know;
[Show spoiler]the stones are the infinity stones from Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet (seen briefly in Odin's vault in Thor) It seems in this universe the tesseract is 1 of these infinity stones. Unless the Aether can be made into a stone (who knows!) or something. As for The Collector himself i don't know much about him so if i told you it would be taken from Wiki :P

I've also heard it wondered if
[Show spoiler]the stone in Loki's Avengers sceptre may be one of the Gems, an idea that makes sense when a) it could easily be the Soul Gem, giving it's controlling powers and b) it seems the sceptre came straight from Thanos (I believe Loki is told "And who put the sceptre in your hand?" at one point)

Yeah. This would make perfect sense. Never thought about that before!

Would make sense if
[Show spoiler]one infinity gem is able to cancel out another. That's how they explained the sceptre being able to pierce through the tesseract energy barrier and shut it off.

I'm very curious about this film because A) I know almost nothing about the Guardians of the Galaxy and B) Marvel is playing it safe with Phase Two being nothing but sequels guaranteed to make money - and as evidenced by Iron Man 3, a LOT of money - except this one, which is their latest gamble. I like discovering new film properties based on comic books because let's face it, that doesn't happen very often these days. I hope they hit a home run with this one because if it flops, I fear we won't be seeing any studio take chances with the genre for quite awhile (except Ant-Man, which is guaranteed a release).

but we saw the Aether in a type of 'stone' form
[Show spoiler]when it was hidden (before Portman accidentally absorbed it) albeit a HUGE ass stone. I also initially thought it was given to The Collector in the mid-credits scene...but wasn't the Aether still in Malakeith when he was crushed by his own ship?

But I'm also sure it was mentioned that the Aether can take on solid form, though it naturally liquid?...
guess I'll have to pay more attention when I watch it again

sounds plausible but wasnt it clearly mentioned that Loki's Spear was power by the Cube/Tesseract ?

Well, right now, only the Rocket Raccoon-fixated fans are doing that.

maybe half right actually
[Show spoiler]"It has been speculated that the blue gem in the Chitauri scepter is the Mind Gem." - http://marvel-movies.wikia.com/wiki/Infinity_Gauntlet

Though if thats true I'm a tad confused as I honestly thought the Tesseract
[Show spoiler]would have been the 'power' stone

having very little knowledge about the MCU outside of what we see in the movies, is this a rule/fact?

I've never read a comic for Guardians of the Galaxy but everything I'm learning about it is getting me more hyped. I'd consider myself a fan already actually.
