Very interesting as I just now opened my package from Target as I too was expecting RD 4K and low and behold I get "The Inhabitant" DVD just like you and I suspect others as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get The Inhabitant 2 based on these strong sales.

By any chance, does this Inhabitant DVD have the missing line from Reservoir Dogs?

I am in with Target chat to inform them of the problem, it sounds based on what the rep said, is that they are aware of the issue and it was a vendor problem and it's in the process of being corrected. This could be why RD 4K now shows "sold out" until they truly get the problem fixed. They did issue me a full refund and because I paid less than what it currently lists for and is showing out of stock, they provided a reference number for $15 off my next order.

Hopefully your order is correct but if not, just a heads up what you may have inside that package once it arrives to you.

Target got back to me and thanked me for bringing the issue to their attention, even though it sounds like they already knew about it, and instead of the $15 credit, they issued me a reference number and said when the title is restocked for me to contact them with a new reference number and they will ship out the replacement copy for free, they said it could be a few weeks before it's back in stock.

Skipped around my copy tonight, a few observations:
  • While there may be some ever so slight red push, the sunburned skin tones are highly exaggerated. Compare Harvey's skin tone (which appears to be tan) versus Buscemi's pale skin versus Chris Penn's tanned but not quite Harvey's tone and there's a nice range across three actors.
  • The fine detail present in clothing and skin pores is fantastic, easily the best I've even seen this film. The blacks look good as well.
  • The audio is an improvement over the Blu-ray, but there are still some lines that are tougher to hear than others. I feel as though it's part of the production and not the fault of the audio mix (note that I was watching on a 3.2 system sans surround channels).
  • The red ringing/halos on Chris Penn's jacket as well as the black curtains in the background of Joe's office in the "Mr. Blonde" scene are for sure a "thing," they were easily visible as I approached my 65" LED screen.

Picked up the Best Buy SteelBook, I’m a sucker for quality packaging. Can’t wait to sit down and watch this tomorrow night with the wife and some quality beer!

Disc looks pretty good. It is slightly dim though. It kind of reminds me of American Psycho where the colors are a bit muted and it looks a little too smooth. That one is a little murky too. There's very little grain that I can see but maybe that's how it was filmed. I watched in Dolby Vision

Somehow this is screwing with the brightness on my OLED G2. I guess these discs that are somewhat dim cause it to dim down even further? Then a bright scene will come and the TV noticeably changes the brightness. Pretty annoying. Seems odd I thought the brightness limiter was for things that were too bright and might damage the TV.

Are the dialogue missing, or just hard to hear? Could be a production thing, but would be nice to know.

There is a missing line of dialog.

Speaking of which, does anybody have an email address handy for Lionsgate? I couldn’t find one for their home entertainment department.

It's the ASBL. It kicks in when it thinks nothing on the screen is changing enough to prevent burn-in, and is frequently accidentally triggered by dark scenes.

My comment had nothing to do with any lines of dialogue missing. Some lines are just difficult to hear. Harvey projects and enunciates while Buschemi does not and kinda mumbles so sometimes it's difficult to hear some of his lines unless the volume is cranked a bit higher than normal.

Well, Walmart or Fedex I suppose, fumbled my RD 4K after Target sent me The Inhabitant, which I guess I'll have to watch after all of this I feel like I have seen it. So, went to Bestbuy and bought it there.
