Nolan isn't always correct on how his movies should look like on home media. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight should clue you in.

I get your larger point, though. NormDR > DoVi Stream

Default Picked this up at BB

And the first disc was rattling around inside, but no scratches thankfully. First glance is this looks like a nice package indeed from universal, I don’t doubt Nolan saying they put a lot of work into this. I can’t wait to dive into the film as well as the features….

I whiffed on the Best Buy orders. Apparently, Best Buy Canada has it stocked online right now. I had a friend who grew up in Canada order it and ship to his parents house. A few questions:

1. Is there any difference on the discs that Best Buy Canada is getting compared to the USA? It looks like the sticker on the outside is French but my friend says everything else is the same (other than maybe having a french dialogue option).

2. Are we thinking there is no chance of finding this restocked at Best Buy in the USA online or in store?

2) Male, age 22 - "dumb, boring, bunch of talking, nothing was happening, I walked out after about 15 minutes to get something to eat"
These posts are SO incredibly true.

I feel like a lot of people skipped seeing this in the theaters. Often times in order to buy an expensive disc later. I can feel the hype boiling up for this release, and some viewers should temper their expectations. 3hr movies are difficult. Any way you want to slice it. Expect lots of conversations, ambiguously named characters, and lots of men men men talking. The one thing that stood out most when viewing this film to me is how it feels like almost all dudes. Which is not the type of criticism I would often make.

Got the Walmart with the bonus disc, but wow. Their 'Icon Series' sports an extra-wide packaging and cardboard sleeves. And naturally it had a spyder security device wrapped around it so wire marks galore.

Went into BBY right when it opened, and only had the standard UHD and BD. No SB. Somebody else raced in right with me, said "God damnit," and stormed right out.

I'm not big on SB's in general, but preferred the cover to the standard. These days I'm most often only getting the SB when it includes the BD and the standard doesn't, and that isn't the case here. So I just went with the standard, even if Wal-Mart has theirs (good cover, but not as good as the BBY SB).

You mean the steelbook? Already sold out again. The discs are the same as far as I know except for a french track.

Yeah, the steelbok. Fortunately my friend did get his order in before it sold out.

Actually, it did pop up shortly after 1 am last night, but it sold out within 2-3 minutes. I know, because I successfully snagged a copy. There was no store pickup option, just delivery. My copy shipped this morning with an ETA of Friday.

I logged into the site shortly before 1 am (ET) and repeatedly refreshed the page. Around three minutes past 1, the listing changed from "Coming Soon" to "Add To Cart." I immediately went through the checkout process and successfully purchased a copy. As soon as I checked out, I went back to the listing page and it had already switched to "Sold Out" status.

I, for one, will not miss the gyrations one has to go through to pre-order Steelbooks and Collectors Editions at Best Buy. There HAS to be a better way and I hope some savvy retailer picks up the mantle once BB gets out of the physical media business.

But wait, I'm not even seeing it in its inventory. Never mind "Sold out," "Unavailable," or anything of the sort... I can't even search for it.

When you say it popped up, do you mean that it went from nonexistent to actually appearing, or from "Coming Soon" to "Add to Cart"?

It did appear at the appointed hour from "coming soon" to "add to cart". I had one in my cart, though like many failed to get one. I have it saved on my page so I'm able to still see it, but yes, it's otherwise vanished from the inventory search.

Thanks, I found the page through a Google search. I'll probably just stick with the standard then. I'm not that picky if I get the same discs.

Can't you just put HDR10 in a DV container? I've heard about that being done on streaming before, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nolan's movies on streaming just do that.

I went with the Walmart edition. None of the Best Buys got the steelbook in. I guess it will show up in a few days. I'll keep the Walmart edition sealed for awhile and see what happens.

Interesting when I scanned the Walmart icon edition of Oppenheimer (the back cover ) it came up as Fast X icon edition on Blu-ray app but the weird thing is this morning my Walmart order itself said Oppenheimer but it actually showed the picture on my actual order itself on Walmart as the Fast X icon edition odd. Since I was doing an in store pickup I was worried they would pick the Fast X icon edition as that is what was pictured in my order but they gave me the correct edition. Never seen that before.
