The shootout last night was a blast. I got to meet a lot of really cool people at ValueElectronics. My opinion of the results are as follows- 1st-Pioneer 500M Plasma,2nd Samsung LED 8500,3rd-Panasonic V10 Plasma,4th-Toshiba Regza LED 670U. This is just my opinion with what I saw with my own eyes. And No, I'm not being partial or a "Fanboy" to the Kuro because I own it

So who came in first?
Edit-nevermind i just checked, kuro came first, samsung 8500 was second. dont know the rest though. How the heck does a 2007/08 tech TV beat all these 2009 models? gotta love that pioneer secret sauce. Last edited by saprano; 10-19-2009 at 07:42 AM. |

The 500M (and 600M) was actually a 2008 4th quarter release. October/November production or something like that. Turbe (ControlCal on this board) first posted about it on the AVS board on 12/31/08 and most people had no idea what it was. It was somewhat of a surprise release.

That's cool, Sarge. I would've liked to see the comparison myself. Did you take any pics?
I'm super excited. Tomorrow is the big day!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I had issues too. I burned the Video_TS file on a DVD-R which played on my brother's computer as a DVD, but it wouldn't play on my PS3. Unfortunately, I don't have a DVD burner, or else I'd have this thing troubleshooted already. And I just called my brother about burning a DVD again, and his PC is shot! Doh! Ha, oh well. ![]() |

I burned all 3 different files for DVD(The nrg., the video TS, and the ISO). I even burned the SVCD. The SVCD was read by my BD player, but would time out after 58 seconds every time. I could skip chapters and see all the color files but it wouldn't run them in sequence. The info was there...probably formatted wrong. The DVD files I burned wouldn't even read at all on my bd player...I didn't bother trying to run any of them on my PS3. I know the PS3 can't read SVCD (at least not the north american models) but maybe it'll do okay with a DVD-R??? My BD player can play SVCDs...that is why I don't understand wtf is going on. I only had one blank media CD-R disc. Maybe it was a bad disc. I'm out to get a few more CD-Rs today to try again. If that doesn't work, I'll have to wait for the DVD I ordered from Evangelo.....which has been a week already. ![]() |

I got a few more DVD-R discs earlier today but was unsuccessful once again. Either I really suck at burning stuff, or my components don't support the DVD-Rs. ![]() Couldn't I just use my laptop's serial ports and use my laptop's dvd playback to run the break-in disc? My laptop runs the burned discs just fine. I actually have it running now using an old LCD as an external monitor just as a test run. It's going through alot of colors now. I don't know if this would work for 6 days straight without damaging my laptop. Has anyone ever done it this way? |

Requirements: Memory Card & TV Capable of looping images from a memory card with no onscreen display. Now, your PS3 can play this file continuously when it's unzipped and done through the basic slide show (use a thumb drive to transfer it to the PS3). The pictures last about 5 seconds for each color. The only OSD that comes up after it finishes is the play button for maybe a second or two. The PS3 won't dim when you let it loop through either. I've hesitated using this method only because the pictures aren't up there for very long, the variation of the pictures are far fewer than the DVD, and the frequency of having the play button appear. Who knows if this even matters though. If push comes to shove, I'll most likely use it. |
