The only way I can see happening is the old villains return as mindless zombies doing Thanos' bidding.

Hugo Weaving isn't keen on returning as Red Skull too.

Ehh, just get someone else to play him, not having Weaving won't be a deal-breaker.

Or let Red Skull be in the past and introduce an unfeatured Marvel threat.
There are plenty in their history to give a role to, instead of recycling an already defeated foe.

Neither are most of the actors who played villains in Marvel films. And let's all be honest, most of the marvel films are pretty terrible, and wouldn't really be much of a threat anyways.

The makeup artists could make a lot of different actors look similar to Hugo's Red Skull, and we probably wouldn't notice much.

Now the acting part, that's a bit different. Hugo's a great actor but I still think he is replaceable. Plus, he doesn't want to do it anyways, didn't like it I think so why force the issue.

Someone else physically with Weaving dubbing him would be ideal. Though my main thought is we don't need repeat villain appearances.

Thanos using the Infinity Gauntlet to resurrect past villains for mini-boss fights kinda ignores the whole purpose of the storyline: why do something so petty when he can literally do anything?

To give himself an army...but they have a Hulk.

Don't need an army when you can force of will half the universe out of existence in the blink of an eye.

More dramatic on film to have an army though.

Not necessarily. It would be harder to visualise Thanos wiping out half of the universe's existence compared to him creating an army of past MCU villains to aid him against the Marvel superheroes.

Not really. Show a bunch of planets blowing up. It's easy.

They'd better kill some of the heroes in these movies or it'll be disappointing as hell.

I think they'll be in a safe place to start axing off players in these films. That said, I don't want them killing off for the sake of being the big, epic finale. The thing that surprised me about Civil War is how much purpose and weight it had behind it without relying on a death to make it super serious.

They don't need to kill off a bunch of characters. They just need to kill off one. Iron Man has to die.

I mean hell they can bring him back in the next movie anyways.

That's what Michael Bay would do though.
