Well I've been on AVS and a few other boards trying to find similiar methods of using a laptop for this. My test run on the LCD has been going for several hours now, so I may try that. What's worse effing up a laptop or my beloved PS3? After all, I do have 3 laptops and only one PS3. I have never ran any of them any longer than 4-5 hours at one time. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I just want everything to go smoothly and not freeze up on my new Kuro....especially since it will be running in torch mode for 6 1/4 days straight (re-running the DVD every 24 hours).

I had thought about the SD card method with the PS3 and I still may go that route tomorrow if I still feel uneasy about using the laptop. I'll keep you guys updated and maybe snap a few pics of the "new" living room and display, if I get a chance.

BTW, Sarge...I took your advice and went with the Elite SC-25. You only live once, right? I'll be waiting to upgrade the speakers until after the holidays. It's going to look funny with my Klipsch SL's (50 watts RMS) and my Sony sub hooked up to that beast.... kinda like putting 427 in a Chevette. lol

Great, Good for you man! Did you get it yet? It's an awesome reciever infact it's the reciever we used at the shootout. If you can use the USB ports to run the color slides, it's alot easier than running a dvd. I always used my Panasonic BD-80 (has an SD slot in front) to run the slides. It's very easy, just put in the SD card set the slideshow and your ready to roll

It's here finally!! That was a long 5 weeks for sure. I only have 148 hours of break-in to get through before I can enjoy this beautiful monitor. I threw up a few pics in my gallery if anyone cares to see. I diabled ratings until I get everything set up and I'll use a decent camera next time.

BTW, the laptop method was a flop. I woke up early this morning to the DVD stuck at the file chapter menu It was supposed to run for 24 hours straight. It didn't even make it 12 hours without screwing up. Thank goodness I ran a test run on the LCD first. I have abandoned the disc and am currently running the break-in files on the SD card via the PS3.

To Sarge: I just ordered the SC-25 yesterday. It should be here by the end of the week. I just can't wait that long. lol The PS3 will just have to pull break-in duty.

....so far it's been running 7 hours. I'm guessing it will just keep looping until I stop it. I'll be keeping a close watch on it for sure.

Did you ever get your replacement panel?

Sarge, sorry to keep bugging you but do you still use the D-nice break-in settings (his tweaked "sport" mode) with the SD card? The reason I ask is because the image slides on the card are much brighter compared to the DVD, not to mention fewer colors. The images on the DVD are much more subtle. D-Nice didn't really clarify (from what I read) on whether or not these intense "Sport" settings (+50 contrast and color) was suitable for SD files. He does reccomend these settings with the Evangelo2 DVD, however. He only specified on the 5020/6020 models that those settings were for both DVD and thumbdrive files but not on the 500/600M settings. I'm just wondering if i should back off the color and contrast a bit? I have it just like the settings he listed for the 500M with the Evangelo2 DVD.

Mine is cooking in there right now. If I get cold tonight, I'm hitting the couch where the Kuro is.

Ebay. It's coming from a dealer in Florida. Paid just over a $1000 for it.

I am finally done with the 150hr break in, I used DNice's "Sport Mode" settings with an SD card. I followed the settings to a T and everything is A OK However, DNice will be at my house on Friday to calibrate my 600M and if you want me to ask him personally about the "Sport" mode and the 500M I can.

No need. Thanks anyway but I finally found where he had stated on AVS that it didn't matter, either method would be fine.

BTW, I finally received my Evangelo2 disc in the mail. It did the same thing mine did when I burned it. It would stop at 59 seconds. I guess my BD player doesn't read CD-Rs after all. Oh well, another 6 dollars wasted on break-in disc.

When you run your SD slide show off of your PS3, are you concerned about having that play symbol pop up every time the slide show finishes and restarts again?

I get my TV today at about 5:00, so I'm hoping to get that going. That's the good news. The bad news is that my apartment flooded yesterday and my TV room is soaked. I've got a dehumidifier and a fan going, hopefully the equipment is undamaged (should be, as the water just soaked the entire carpet pad area, but didn't rise any). The way this week has been going, another cracked 500M is probably going to be the case! Hope not though!

I haven't seen the play button come up at all and it's been playing for over 50 hours non-stop. Maybe it's the way you have it formatted or something? The only interruption I've seen at all was the battery warning for the controller. I had to recharge it to keep the warning from popping up.

Sorry to hear about your TV room flooding, that sux. Just think positive, your 500M will arrive in perfect condition this time.

How do you have your PS3 and SD card set up where it doesn't show the play symbol after it finishes the slide show? (to repeat itself) I'm not finding a way around it.

EDIT:

Now it isn't doing it anymore... SD card must be different than using a thumb drive b/c I swear it was showing the play symbol after the slides got done. Oh well, at least I have a working break in method now.

Woo hoo!

It's here, no visible cracks, and it turned on to show the no input display!

The glass is a foggy, so hopefully after it gets room temperature, I can 100% pass it, but no visible cracks is a huge plus.
