If you use a HDD it needs to be FAT32.

Its better if you put all your folders in a directory called MUSIC (caps on). That way you don't need to press triangle and sort through file types. You can press X and it filters it for you.

You can do the same thing for -

PICTURES (can't remember if the S on the end is required or not).
VIDEO

Thats what I do. But it will only work for files that the PS3 recognizes.

Why does everyone want to play stuff through the PS3 anyway? I can understand video and pictures, but music? You can just plug your Ipod or phone into an amp.
