Just in the classic font...throw it on a poster with Harrison and everyone would know it was an Indy Jones movie!!!
Not gonna happen. True about the last title being too long but they are so not moving in that direction. In fact, when Indy was finally released on DVD they re-named Raiders so that the entire saga would have the Indiana Jones and... header. So now its Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Yeah- I own said set on DVD too... Just throwing it out there like a "wish-list!"
Heck, Lucas threw Revenge into Ep. III's title to try and cash in on Return's title change!!!

I'd like to see them go back to something religious, or at least more well known. The Crystal Skulls (and the Sankara Stones, on the same token) just didn't really hold the same allure to me as the Ark and the Grail. Even upon researching the Crystal Skulls, the backstory on them isn't nearly as fascinating or rich.

I'm also on the less CGI boat. I was pretty jazzed when Spielberg said he was going to keep it as old school as possible and ended up saturating the film with CGI (and later said that they ended up using quite a bit more CGI than planned). I love the chase in the warehouse because it looks (and IS) all practical, save the backdrop of infinite boxes. Swashbuckling on a jeep that's superimposed on a fake jungle just doesn't carry any weight, and makes it even harder to believe. Unbelievable action that is practical is much more believable than unbelievable action that looks unbelievable.

Also, give Indy more to do. He really just kind of followed everybody along, especially the bumbling Ox, who seemed like he was there to move the story along because they couldn't think of anything better.

If they had the Internet back then to whine I am sure comments like these would have been found

As for Indy V, I am all for it. Indy IV was the second best movie in the series for me after Raiders so I am very happy to see another one

"George is actively at work (on the script)"

That really worries me.

And think they're doing a 5
A) because #4 was leftover hash of six other scripts and looked it, so now they want to show how much better it would look if it'd been actually written from the beginning,
and
B) if they DIDN'T do a #5 back when everyone was pretending #4 was a hit, they'd just keep wondering and talking "what if?" about it for the next ten years, and then they'd end up in a worse mess.

Me, I don't envy Spielberg in trying to find some "hook" that will make this one the sequel-retread he didn't want to make last time--
The only impetus he had for making #4 distinctive was to wrap up the series as a sentimental into-the-sunset finale, and...well, looks like that didn't work, what now?

I definitely agree with option A. I still have Frank Darabont's script on my desktop, but haven't brought myself to read it for fear that it's a million times better than what we got. I really hope Spielberg puts more of his hand into this one, rather than just going along with something he admittedly wasn't too keen on.

The Indiana Jones films without Nazis have been nicht so gut, that's why 2 (yeah prequel I know) & 4 are forgettable.

Forget the nostalgia and awful c.g.i.-ridden junk of the last one & just give us a good 'ole adventure!

Please explain? I wasn't aware he wrote a script for it.

So what does Stephen and George have in mind this time?

I am guessing since the Aliens for the last movie was the whole debacle about, I think they should tackle Atlantis the lost city.

I read it and LOVED it. It actually gives Marion a purpose besides just standing around half the time. I think Koepp's intro is much better than Darabont's though...I'll give him that

I would like to see more of a buddy relationship with another male character...more in the vein of Indy with his father in 'Last Crusade'. I think it would be wonderful if they cast this character with Tom Selleck (longtime fans would know why), possibly as Indy's brother, or a competitor or somesuch. Anyhow, that would be enjoyable to me.

And yes, I do like the story of 'Fate of Atlantis' to base the film on, but I look forward to whatever they come up with regardless.

Kryptonic, your comments so far have been the most sensible... can you imagine how hokey it would be if they made an Indy film now with the exact same technology and techniques that they used in 1981? The outrage would be considerably greater than the "we don't want no CGI" sillyness that went around last year.

Oh, and to SapGoblin: they DID use traditional film stock. It was not shot on digital, Spielberg doesn't do digital, (he insists on it partly because his editing equipment and expertise is all analog, and he's too old and entrenched to change now. His own words). CGI and film are not mutually exclusive.

The three principle players involved are all richer than god, at this point they do it because they love it. It's just rotten to accuse them of having crass and greedy motives. At the very least, such accusations have no foundation in any evidence. When those three get together, they make movies that are a lot of fun, they have fun doing it, and it shows. I'm glad they finally got back to working together again.

Here's looking forward to another one.

Really? Besides probably being fake, I thought it was really bad. It had all the stuff that so many people hated, (the fridge bit, spacemen, giant ants, vine-swinging, etc.) in addition to a lot of really cheesy stuff like Oxley performing telekinesis, Indy getting drunk and robbing the museum, an ancient Jones Senior singing Sinatra, and an electric-powered ancient city; plus, a lot of hokey details filling out stuff that is in the Koepp version. Also, it seems like it would be a pacing nightmare, unless they were planning on making it three hours long. I don't know... I don't like it, I think the Koepp script was better than that one. I have trouble believing Darabont would write something that wacky.

I didn't read through the entire thread, so I apologize if this is old news:

"Indiana Jones 5" Script Includes Sean Connery

Quote:
Back when "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was being written, George Lucas revealed that the script had Indy's father in it, which meant that Sean Connery would need to reprise his role. Unfortunately, Connery refused and the script was quickly re-written.

Now that Lucas and Steven Spielberg have cracked the story for the fifth installment, we are starting to hear rumors that the filmmakers will once again try to get Connery to join the cast.

A source said: "Steven Spielberg has been working on a script with George Lucas and there is an element of the story that could see Sean returning. Anything is possible in these movies and if Sean wants to return he will become central to the new story."

No word on whether Connery would come out of retirement for "Indiana Jones 5."
