Point made here is that Amazon deleted the pre-order without telling me. Sure they'll sell me the blu ray at the orignial price... why not? They deleted the pre-odrer. How would you feel if your order was deleted because the felt the price was too low?

If I wasn't a big fan, I would wait, but being a space cadet... well, it's one of those things...

looks like walmarts getting another exclusive
Dear buyer ,

To thank you for your DVD preorder, we're upgrading your order.

Walmart.com has just announced that it will be sending out special "Exclusive" editions of six upcoming DVD releases to all customers who have preordered.

This offer includes the DVDs listed below in the same format (Blu-ray or standard definition) you originally ordered.

If the Exclusive edition is sold at a lower price than what you paid for your preorder, we will automatically extend this new lower price to you and refund any difference. No action is needed on your part.

AFFECTED ITEMS

Item(s) upgraded in the above order(s):

Star Trek XI (3-Disc) (Blu-ray + Digital Copy) (Exclusive) (Widescreen); Format: Blu-ray

My pre-order price is actually $22.99...along with a goldbox discount. It was all adjusted automatically. Are you sure you didn't accidentally delete the preorder yourself? I've never heard of Amazon deleting any orders before and there's been some serious serious videogame discount abuse lately.

Default Fear and dread Trek will involve a firmware nightmare

How many of you have had several instances of disc issues and dealing w/ continual firmware updates to play your new releases?
So far with my 2.0 player(Sharp), I had to upload a fix uploaded on 10/6 to play my trailers on BD live on my Wizard Of Oz. Now, my Snow White title, I cannot play more than 1 item on disc one and have it go back to menu and choose another. I have to eject disc and reload. I have yet to play disc II other than the beginning warnings/logo. So it is with fear and dread, that on Nov 17th, w/ all the new tech being loaded on the Trek film BD 2 disc offering, that my player again will fail in 1 or more areas of playback!
This title alone got me to take the plunge for a BD player just like I did 2 yrs ago w/ my HD player for the HD season one TOS boxed set and mail away phaser remote.
I even have a surround sound system coming Tues FEDEX to fully enjoy my BD titles. I'll be so PO'd, if my Trek title is riddled w/ error codes that I have to wait weeks for a firmware update to be able to enjoy it!
How many of you are having such frequent difficulties w/ 2.0 version players, like the earlier 1.0 had 3 years ago?

Just went on line and ordered it from Walmart and cancelled the Amazon order. Amazon is selling it for $5 more than Walmart.

Never, I called Amazon to talk to someone about the cancelled pre-order, but was stone walled. Then I send an email asking why the order was deleted. As you have read from the previous post, Amazon said it was a mistake to lower the price that much and decided to pull the order. I think that is bad business in anyway you look at it. How did you get it for 22.99?

Update: I just got off the phone with Amazon. They admitted the email that was sent to me should have not been sent. They said the pre-order should have not been deleted. Once more, the customer service agent said that she was baffled as to why the email was sent to me saying the order had been deleted because the price was too low. After she had read the email that was sent to me, she gave me a $10.00 discount, plus free shipping bring my total cost for this blu ray a whopping $17.99. Not bad if I say so myself.

I can't wait for this to come out. As to which one i will buy, i think i'll just pick up the Target 3 disk special edition since there are no Wal-marts in NYC and i don't rly care for metal space craft replicas or insignias and w/e else they come with. The movie was probably my fav. movie of all times and i've never saw star trek b4 as a child so that has to show how good and appealing to the masses this movie has been. To all of you who loved this movie i'll drink a beer in ur honor! (i'll probably die of alcohol induced comma around my 40th beer)

I picked up my copy today. I live in Oz and it was due for release on 29th October but some stores had them on the shelves today so I purchased a copy. I'll hopefully get the chance to view it tomorrow.

Yes this release date is correct. I actually picked up my copy today from Video Ezy, so it looks like some stores are putting copies on the shelves a few days early
