Hey I was just updating my https://forum.blu-ray.com/television...n-arrival.html with new casting info from yesterday and saw that Sean Farris who's had an arc on this show through the past several episodes has landed the lead in a new show for the CW, called "The Wyoming Project" there is more info about the show and the original article in the thread so check it out.

MAJOR SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!

[Show spoiler]Stefan may get a taste of human blood again soon, which may change his personality a bit, and I can't imagine that goes over well with good girl Elena. Katherine, on the other hand, would love it, right? Also, you'll never guess whose body is going to be found? Vicki! So this means that (a) she really is dead and not coming back as boss Kevin Williamson told us and (b) Jeremy is so gonna find everything out, right? That has to be where all this is heading, given that he's realizing that there are vampires in Mystic Falls. The only question is: What will Damon do when he is found out? Shudder.

Nice! I've always thought Jeremy needed a purpose on this show.

i watched this cause i had read the books back when i was in middle school 14 years ago or so, so i kind of felt obligated to at least give the show a chance. It was without a doubt the worst pilots i've ever seen and probably the worst TV show i've ever seen. but then again, what should i have expected from the CW

No way, I've seen worse. You're just comparing it to the books.

no, i'm comparing it to TV shows, i tend to weed out crap before i watch it, i have a good sense for whats terrible before hand, and Vampire diaries is something i never would have watched had i not read the books, but it was just terrible as a show. the script was terrible, the acting was garbage, the show was just dull, the characters were so flat and stale they might as well just pit carboard cutouts of them and super imposed moving mouths on their faces, or even just emulated those dumb old navy commercials with the manaquinns. least then i might have thought it was bad as a joke. Granted i'm going just off the pilot like i said, could the show have gotten better, maybe. But from what i saw, even with a jump in quality, were talking about a jump like going from plan 9 from outer space to freddy got fingered. Sure it's an improvement, but it's like being in your 30s and beating a 5 year old at full contact football

You can't judge the whole show by it's pilot, it gets a lot better as it progresses.

Yup, I thought the Pilot sucked, but the show definitely got way better as it went on, took a long time, IMO, to really find it's legs.

Yeah, up until episode 5 or 6. Basically before the whole Katherine thing got started.

+1. If everyone did that then Buffy would have never made it! It's first season was bad, just another monster every week with no real flow or continuity story. However, we all know what ended up happening after that, one of the best shows ever.

You should really give this show a chance. The story is really starting to come together nicely.

theres a difference between judging a show by a pilot thats just a bit muddled or incoherant and one thats just down right garbage. Pilots are always a bit difficult cause you have half hour/hour to introduce characters, set up plots and a host of other things, so usualy pilots can be very jumbled. The difference is something like almost anything joss whedon makes where you can SEE potential in it. The guy is terrible at making pilots, but it's joss whedon, so you always stick it out. You can tell how good the storys are going to be due to the world he creates, due to the characters he populates it with. The pilot if basically the back cover of a book in a sense. it's job is to get you hooked, if it dosn't do that, it didn't do it's job. have there been some TV shows that have had terrible pilots but a great series. Yes, Six feet under is a prime example, the pilot was terrible, but the concept of the show was so interesting that it warrented another watch, and the 2nd episode is amazing. as i said, the pilot of vamp diaries fell into every terrible teen WB drama cliche in the book. It might as well have just been one tree hill with vampires.........and crappier direction. there is just nothing original about the show. it was teen drama making 101. The entire thing played out like they just went through the book and followed the dialoge and blocking verbatim. anyone can do that, i can do that. a directors job is not to take exactly whats on paper and make their actors do that. take david fincher, he took an already brilliant book in fight club and wrapped it up with so much more just by how it was shot, and some of the visual techniques he added. had he just taken what was in the book and slapped it on a script, and shot it on digital the movie would have been terrible. it's basically the difference between a director like david lynch, and a one like michael bay. one adds his own touches, brings out underlying connotations in the script, pulls great performances from his actors....one just goes, lets shot sploisons and hot people doing stuff. i'll let you figure out which one is which

HUGE CASTING SPOILER

[Show spoiler]
24’s loss is The Vampire Diaries‘ gain!

David Anders, who (spoiler alert) permanently clocked out of 24 last night, has rebounded with a multi-episode arc on The CW smash, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The Alias and Heroes alum will play Elena and Jeremy’s uncle, Jonathan Gilbert, who comes to Mystic Falls to “cause some trouble,” teases an insider.

If that name sounds familiar, it’s because, well, it should. Jonathan Gilbert is the name of Elena and Jeremy’s circa-1800 ancestor. Old school Jonathan debuted via flashback earlier this month as played by Joe Knezevich.

Look for Anders’ present-day Jonathan to turn up in April.

Well from my understanding of that article
[Show spoiler]he is the same Jonathan Gilbert from the flashbacks, just simply a much more well known actor to play him, so I'd take it to mean being from the past, he might know a thing or two about it

Oh, I thought he was their ancestor or something. That's even better.

Edit: I misunderstood the article lol. You're right. I wonder if he knows Jeremy and Elena though.

I wonder if he possibly will
[Show spoiler]emerge from the tomb since we didn't see everybody there, or if he's been watching them all along. More than likely he's been local cause it doesn't seem like anybody really ever gets out of that town, except for Katherine of course.

I don't know, if it's the same
[Show spoiler]Jonathan Gilbert
then I guess he was trapped at the tomb.

Either that or was
[Show spoiler]turned vamp shortly after they locked up the tomb, since Katherine was free the whole time, she could have easily changed Jonathan.
Frankly we can keep guessing on this till it happens, at this point I'm just gonna wait and see.

Yeah, I'm with ya. Although we're going to be waiting for a little while. I think it returns in late March.
