The UK transfer is excellent and will play on all players. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to import it. It's relatively cheap on amazon.uk, so, yeah.

I'm getting the Canadian release for $14 shipped. And subs are optional not burnt it (at least I have to assume subs are optional since there's both English and French subs)

Transfer is the same as the UK one, give or take, and the audio is better.

So it seems the Canadian release is the best version out there.

Shocked it never got a US release on blu ray.

The best version out there is the Canadian one hands down.
Lossless audio, AVC video and most of the extras from the inferior UK version + director's commentary

I just wish I could have gotten the German HD DVD when I had the chance as it does not have any DNR:

Wasn't it only released on HD-DVD in Spain?

I was told it was a European release. I saw the caps from it and it did have much more grain than all of the present BDs. Similar to the difference in the OOP JP BD/HD DVD release of Band of Brothers compared to every other release.

Where from? That's a great price.

BTW, here's possibly the most expensive BD ever, the still-readily-available UK disc sold secondhand by a Canadian seller for CDN$ 14,999.97. Clearly a typo, lol, but still funny.

Got my Canadian disc in today and made some comparisons to my U.K. disc. It's a larger difference than I was expecting honestly.

Why is there streaking at the bottom of your UK screenshots? It's as if the last row of the pixels, of the actual picture, has been stretched downward to some degree.

I think that's my screen capturing. Sometimes I get that. I think it's something to do with not quite liking AnyDVD HD.

Hmm... They definitely look different, but other then the Canadian one looking the tiniest bit brighter, I'm not sure I see one that's clearly better. Which do you prefer.

I'm thinking I'll get the Canadian just for the improved audio and removable subs soon, but wondering about the video.

IMHO the compression looks slightly better on the U.K. disc, but in motion I doubt it would be noticeable at normal viewing distances. I'll probably end up keeping the CA disc and selling the U.K. disc just because of the lossless audio and removable subs.

The Canadian disc also has the audio commentary by Hirschbiegel that was on the US DVD but is not on the UK BD, correct?

Does it have all the docs, etc that are on the UK Disc?

Yeah, I think you're correct about the extras.

I believe the Canadian BD is identical to the American DVD, which contains the commentary and making-of documentary, and some (but not all) of the cast & crew interviews on the UK disc. I can live without a few of the interviews.

I do agree that based on these shots the UK BR is slightly crisper than the Canadian one. Thought one probably would not notice it while watching.

I suppose overall the Canadian one is better.
