Wow. Tom Hardy huh. Never would have thought of him as a candidate for the role. I am a big fan though!

Is there any word about whether Gibson will be in the film on any level (even just a cameo)? Would love to see the man who made the character so iconic at least acknowledged.

I like the shot of him as Max, he looks good for the part. I'm looking forward to this one.

As for Gibson having a cameo, I don't think he will. He's been very adamant about not being involved in it over the past few years. He had lunch with Hardy and basically passed the torch to him, but other than that, I don't think he'll show up, sadly.

That sucks. Despite all the bad press, and his seemingly deteriorating mental state, I think Gibson is and always has been a top actor. At least he's been given the opportunity to have some part in it and give his blessing for Hardy to continue.

Would be epic if he had a cheeky cameo though

While I think Mel is a good actor and I've enjoyed many of the movies he's been in, I think the worst part of the mess he's in is that he's squandering his directing talents. He could have been the most successful actor/director outside of Eastwood.

Before his latest outburst his Berserker film was by far the movie I was most excited about. Without that project who knows when the mighty historical epic genre will be resurrected? It could be another decade + as hollywood experiments on how to make the dullest PG-13 battles imaginable :\

He's squandered it in so much that many studios are now put off from hiring him, yeah. For me, it wouldn't affect his directorial output at all -- film-makers can hold whatever views they want, doesn't mean that, because I'm watching their film, I'm believing those views. Gibson definitely has talent as a director and it would be a shame for him to not make anything again because of a few drunken incidents.

I'm quite sure, though, that, as a project, Berserker was only conceived by Gibson and the studio to re-gain the fans that left when he was branded as an anti-Semite.

Rumors going around that Fury Road has been moved to 2015. Hope it's not true.

was that a planned reshoot period all along, or is this reactionary reshoots based on problems with the film they have so far?

Just hearsay, but I've heard it was the latter.

Sounds like something didn't fly with test audiences. Pretty safe to say that we can expect an alternate ending on the eventual blu-ray release...

Way to blow it out of proportion, it could be the audience wanted more of something else, like an extended opening or more of a certain character. It really could be anything they could be shooting. Heck it might be a huge continuity error that effects a major action scene, hence three weeks to set up.

Missed this reply. Can't see that as the case (no how it would work). Berserker was in planning stages for a long time, well before his outburst.

Rumor: FURY ROAD Is Great, Reshoots Are Good News

Whither Fury Road? The return to the Mad Max universe, starring Tom Hardy as Mad, went through delays in advance, troubles in production and has now, seemingly, disappeared. The last we heard was that the film was going back for reshoots, which made everybody kind of nervous. After all the trouble was the movie terrible, and in dire need of saving?

I have not seen the movie yet, but I spoke with someone who has, and the verdict: it's awesome. Fury Road is awesome. According to my source the movie is, end to end, a badass chase filled with incredible action. Apparently Tom Hardy is still using his Bane voice here, but since Max only has a handful of lines it isn't too bad - and maybe they can dub him, as an homage to the original Mad Max.

Most importantly my source says that the reshoots are intended to beef up the big bookending action sequences. George Miller created an action sequence taking place on a vehicle elevator, and he couldn't get the budget to fully realize it. When the studio saw what he had done with the rest of the movie they gave him the money to go back and make the vehicle elevator sequence sing.

There's still more work to be done on the film; I understand it's a little long right now. But if you've been as worried as I have been about Fury Road, this will be music to your ears. I was ready to write this movie off as a sad disaster, but maybe it's one of those against-all-odds triumphs.
