I don't think anyone was really "hating" on it. Looks like my predictions were pretty spot on. I'll pick it up at some point.

I'll wait for a region A release as well. The lack of English subtitles on the UK disc (for the English language parts) is a no buy for me...

Not to mention the UK release is region B only, correct? You must have a multiregion player or something?

I have two players.

One region A PS3, and a region B Panasonic player.

This is in Play's sale for £9.99 and as one would anticipate Amazon have copied their price quickly.

Is it just me or the "5.1" mix is really a "3.1 mix? Because I watched the ehole thing I not one single note I heard from the surround speakers.

All of Lynch's movies are like that... No surround activity at all.

Ah ok, I was reading about that in the internet, and someone did say that. But if you read the review in this site it says:
The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is very strong, and easily a good enough reason to recommend purchasing this Blu-ray disc. The bass is potent, the surround channels not overly active but used wisely, and the high-frequencies not overdone. Furthermore, there are some outstanding ambient effects (for example, when Nikki discovers the gun) that benefit enormously from the loseless audio treatment. The dialog is clean and easy to follow.
So reading this you assume it has some back activity but there is none.

I have Mulholland Drive in Dvd, still haven't upgraded yet to Blu, but I remember hearing some back activity in that movie.

Does anyone know how serious the Criterion rumors are for this film? I really want to buy this...

I first saw Lynch's Inland Empire when it first hit theaters in Spring 2007, and recently re-watched this again.

I have seen all of Lynch's films. And, even after a second viewing - IE is definitely Lynch's densest & most incomprehensible movie. Essentially, the whole film just seemed like one big mind-#$#%, without any kind of rhyme or reason to connect anything together.

The only things I really "got" from this was the following:

The Laura Dern & Justin Theroux characters were an actress/actor on a film set, and off the set they were having an affair. LD's husband (in "real life") warned off the JT character from seeing his wife.

There were a couple of scenes that appeared to take place in Poland?!

There was a Hollywood street scene that showed the LD character getting stabbed by a fellow?! prostitute, and then slowly dying on the street - however, this didn't "really" happen & was actually part of a film, given that at the end of the scene, you saw a film crew panning back from the scene & LD slowly stirring. It also seems that the character LD was playing here was not the same character she was playing in the scenes she had with JT.

The final scene was the most bizarre - it took place in the drawing room?! of an old house, with women just walking around in a daze. Was this supposed to be hell?! Purgatory?!

The film had several seemingly unconnected dance sequences - including the final scene in the film.

I suspect that if I watch the film a 3rd time it won't make any more sense.

That all being said, as with much of Lynch's work I found this a fascinating viewing experience.

The third time I saw this I cried at the end and I don't even know why. That phantom scene near the end never fails to s*** me up.

It's about women escaping the oppression of men, among other things.

This is my favorite Lynch film. I've seen it about 10 times. Every time I watch it, when the end credits sequence starts I feel like laughing and crying at the same time and I don't know why.

Probably my third favourite, after Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway.

INLAND EMPIRE's my fourth favourite Lynch film after Fire Walk With Me, Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway.

Even as a 15-year-old experiencing his first vitriolic media backlash I knew people watching Fire Walk With Me weren't seeing what I was seeing. People hated Fire Walk With Me because they'd only watched it once, or because it wasn't the TV series which got cancelled because they stopped watching or because they didn't like Sheryl Lee's hair. They hated INLAND EMPIRE because they only watched it once, or because it wasn't Twin Peaks/Mulholland Drive (delete as applicable) or because it was filmed on DV.

One day people will kiss INLAND EMPIRE's ass. Bookmark me.

I know people who like Blue Velvet and maybe Twin Peaks (not the new series..) but struggle with his other output. So don't think he's very marmitey
