This season actually kicks some ass. And I guess they confirmed the red opening is for episodes starting in the alternate universe.

I just had a thought. That big machine Walternate is trying to assemble is powered by Peter, correct? What makes Peter so special? What if Walternate experimented on him specifically to make him the power source for that machine? Wouldn't be any different than our Walter experimenting on all those kids with the Cortexiphan. In a mad scientists mind, can you think of a better use for a kid you believe to be dying anyway?

But they weren't 'fighting the war' back then. The thing that has me confused is that the tech. was referred to by someone as 'old tech.' almost as if they didn't even know where it had come from.

What was the deal with the oxygen? I don't remember seeing that before.

I think it's revealed in season two (Grey Matters) that a blight is killing off the plant life in the alternate universe. They are blaming it on Walter for tearing a whole in their World.

Fighting the war or not - why would only Peter be able to activate that machine? I'm betting it has something to do with The Watchers. We havn't seen them yet this season and there is a lot we don't know about them. Maybe this "old tech" is something of theirs and they were watching Peter in both universes because they knew he needed to live in at least one of them to power their machine. Question is - why/how Peter?

You have to remember too that The Watchers was directly responsible for helping Walter with the tech to cross Universe and also has ties to the dead young Peter..

But everyone knows who we are talking about. The Observers. And they didn't give our Walter the technology - that one simply helped pull Walter and Peter out of the Lake and drove them down the road a bit. At least that's what I remember.. I remember the Observer was watching Walternate when Walternate was working on the cure for Peter. Walternate noticed The Observer and got distracted and missed the chemical change for the cure but our Walter was watching through his Universal-Window thing and noticed the change and set off to save Peter. The Observers had that meeting where one admitted to being seen and caused a mistake in the time-space continium or whatever so he went to save Walter and Peter from drowning upon their return. All that just to keep Peter alive so it seems Peter is important to The Observers.

Observing/Watching/Stalking, it's all the same thing, it just depends on how the judge during sentencing.

Even better, a split screen of the two

I had not noticed this before, but the Fringe sciences listed aren't even the same !
[Show spoiler]and supposedly right before the flash on the alternate one, it says "the Observers are here"

Awesome...

That, and the alternate also says "First People". No wonder Mr. Secretary is so pissed

Next weeks episode will be in our universe. I love having a episode a week in different universes. I feel Alter-Charlie is becoming more sympathetic to Olivia's situation. I think Alter-Charlie will eventually side with Olivia and turn against the Secretary.
