When I was between the ages of 8-10, a combination of Star Wars, The Godfather, Annie Hall, Young Frankenstein, The Exorcist, and Alien jumped started my love of movies, and more specifically 70's movies

Growing up in the 60's in Southern California, we had a television station (WGN from Chicago) that showed movies like "Mysterious Island", "Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein", "The Birds", "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea", "Jason and the Argonauts" . . . These were all the movies that would be so important to me in later life! Still love them all. Can't believe I get to watch these on a home projector on Blu Ray and 4K! Amazing!! First movie I ever saw at a theater was "Mary Poppins", looking back, what a great first movie to see!

PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE made me appreciate the director of the film. I was nine when I discovered this Brian De Palma classic.

I saw PSYCHO two years after PHANTOM; I had already seen other Hitchcock films, but PSYCHO knocked me out.

RESERVOIR DOGS and PULP FICTION were shots in the arm, and made me love film all over again.

The first movie I saw in theaters was Star Wars (1977). I was 4. The entire experience was amazing to me - yes, I still remember quite a bit of that day - so I would say that was the movie that made me fall in love with movies.

The Star Wars OT of course. Star Trek: Wrath Of Khan and Clash Of The Titans were the biggies as a kid. My parents would take me and the little brother to the drive in all the time. We were also the first family in the neighborhood to get a VCR so everyone hung around or house watching flicks all summer.

The Drive in with the family as a kid was a lot of fun on a Saturday night, I agree. Those old metal, grilled speakers that lapped over the side window and then roll the window up to keep out the bugs.

The VCR was an amazing invention. I used to record favorite shows all the time with it. The video stores were always fun to visit.

Another thing that I always looked forward to as a kid was the yearly showings of Superman The Movie, The Wizard Of Oz and Godzilla 1985. I would sit there in front of the TV getting impatient because the credits at the beginning of Superman The Movie were taking too long. I wanted action and I wanted it now. Funny thing is John Williams' Superman theme is my favorite piece of music in all of film.

Well for every kid from my generation I'd have to say it'd be the opening 5 minutes seeing Star Wars in the theatre...that was from a gee whiz perspective, from a story perspective being 3 years older, I was able to appreciate Empire much more.

Jurassic Park was the first film that made me realize how awesome films could get… then the Star Wars trilogy took that up a notch.

Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark are obvious choices. But before that my first cinema trip was a re-re-re-release of Disney's Pinocchio in the late 70s, probably aged around 4.

My mom was an avid movie-watcher, so films have always been a part of my life. I can't pin my love of movies on any one "gotcha" moment. So here are my firsts:

First movie I have any memory of watching: King Kong 1933 on TV.

First movie I saw in theater: Disney's Bambi.

First R-rated movie: The Shining.

Star Wars
Superman: The Movie
Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Those are my best memories that got me started down the path to what I am now.

Star Wars was the one that hooked me in, followed by The Terminator . Though I cannot understate the impact Blow Out and Blue Velvet (which are my 2 favorite films) had on me.

Pinocchio was the first VHS tape my parents rented when we got the VCR. There were so many people crammed into the living room, I swear they bussed some from out of state.

Jurassic Park and Terminator 2.

I remember I was 10 when my mom took me to see T2 in the summer of 91. I also remember it being the hottest day of the year and going into a cool AC theater.

But seeing T2 and Jurassic Park in theaters changed my life.

I can't pinpoint a particular film as it is the overall experience of watching several great films that made me love films.
